WrestleMania 36 airs as a two-night affair from the WWE Performance Center on April 4th and 5th. But that won’t be a live show as the company has already started taping the show of shows from the scheduled venue (s).
With that being said, there will be two separate main events for WrestleMania over which a lot of speculations have started. The original contender matches could have been nixed as per the latest reports.
It was noted via WrestleVotes that Shayna Baszler vs. RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch for the title is likely to close out night one of WrestleMania 36 which airs on Saturday night, April 4 at 7 pm ET via pay-per-view and the WWE Network.
There’s no certainty over which match could be chosen for the night 2 main event, as of now. But reports are available and it looks like Roman Reigns has emerged as the favorite one to close out the show, once again.
Fightful Select provided contradictory reports that there is a lot of “back and forth” going over this week in WWE about the main event match. Shayna Baszler vs Becky Lynch was about to become the main event, but now there is a push for Roman Reigns vs Goldberg to replace this match.
It seems a no-brainer as Vince McMahon was always in favor of bringing back his favorite one to the main event spotlight,
“At one point, Becky Lynch vs. Shayna Baszler was set to main event night one. However, there is word there was a push for Reigns and Goldberg to be in that spot.”
More from the reports stated a lot of ‘wiggle room’ is available because of the way WWE is conducting things. Everything about this WrestleMania is pre-recorded which means “they can make about anything happen with the way they’re filming it.”
It ensures that no spoilers are likely to get out as the entire arena would be empty. Plus, they can put any of the matches for the last spot on the card not letting anyone realize that.
In combined, 16 matches are expected to be on the WrestleMania match card, as per the earlier plans. The plan is still the same where an “upwards of 16 total matches” will likely be on the final card, with 8 matches airing on each night. WWE currently has 12 matches official for WrestleMania 36 which means there will be more confirmations of matches in the upcoming days.
