The rivalry between Kofi Kingston and Randy Orton goes way back in the WWE. Ten years ago, these two had a personal feud where the already multi-time WWE Champion, Orton tried to bury the newly arrived, Kofi. Reports suggested as well Kofi admitted that Orton’s backstage influence held him back. A decade later, these entered a feud on SmackDown, revising the past and set up the title match at Clash Of Champions.
Earlier, Randy Orton has already received a title match against Kofi Kingston at WWE Summerslam. That match did not have a positive ending since the challenger decided to go personal with the champion’s family. Kofi delivered an assault on Orton that allowed to tell everyone that Kofi can never beat him. So WWE.com hinted that the champion will be on a mission at Clash of Champions, (courtesy WWE.com)
“At WWE Clash of Champions, Kofi Kingston will be out to prove he can best The Viper once and for all when he goes one-on-one with Randy Orton in a highly personal WWE Title rematch. Though it seemed Kingston and Orton would settle their rekindled, decade-old rivalry at SummerSlam, a double count-out only fueled Kingston, who unleashed a vicious post-match Kendo stick assault on his challenger in lieu of a satisfying match result. By way of the savage beating, Kofi made it clear that he was not the same person Orton faced 10 years earlier.”
The efforts made by the strong champion did not go in vain by the end of Clash of Champions. He can now brag about cleanly hunting down the Viper.
