The division of the divas in world wrestling entertainment is not the same anymore. There was a time when divas used to feature in some tremendous feuds and storylines and sometimes, in the main events too. Stephanie McMahon and Lita featured in the main event of Raw on August 21, 2000. And Lita also featured in a Monday night Raw main event against Trish Stratus on December 6, 2004. The women’s championship was on the line in both matches. But that was a long ago. You can’t dare to think about a divas match in the main event. Nowadays, divas like Kelly Kelly and the Bella Twins can even snatch the championship gold. The WWE has released most of their good divas like Victoria, Mickie James, of course Serena Deeb, she was one of my personal favorites. Beth Phoenix is also history. The division of the divas has to improve. We have shared an article before about how to improve the division of the divas. We hope it would improve and will regain its lost days. In this series of articles, we will discuss about the best divas of the last decade. In this part of the series, we will talk about the three times winner of the WWE divas championship Eve Torres.
After pursuing a career in dancing & modeling, Eve Torres won the 2007 WWE diva search & entered into a contract with WWE. Her WWE career began as a backstage interviewer in 2008. Later on she became a full time wrestler. She was engaged in various feuds with Layla, Michelle McCool, & Natalya. She also served as a manager for the tag team of “Cryme Tyme”. In 2009 she managed Chris Masters before winning her first ever divas championship in April 2010. She acted as the valet for the R-Truth in the late 2010. She won the divas championship for the second time at the Royal Rumble event in January 2011. In April 2012 she was appointed as the executive administrator of the RAW & SMACKDOWN. At The 2012 Night of Champions pay per view event, Eve became the first diva ever to win the WWE Divas Championship for three occasions.
Eve first entered into the spotlight with a scripted feud with Michelle McCool which continued for a few months through singles & tag team matches. Later she moved on in a feud with Layla & defeated her. In October 2009, Eve was traded to the RAW brand. In January 2010, in the WWE Divas Championship, Eve made it to the semifinals but was defeated. In April of the same year after winning a “dress to impress” battle royal, she became the number one contender for the championship, defeated Maryse and won the championship for the first time.
At the royal rumble in January 2011, Eve pinned Layla to win the divas championship for the second time. She retained the championship successfully against Natalya.
At the Night of Champions pay per view event in September 2010, Eve first defeated Beth Phoenix in a non-titled match. Later Eve defeated Layla to win the divas championship. Then she defeated Layla & Kaitlyn in a triple threat match. She was also able to defend herself successfully at a survivor series against Kaitlyn. Eve ended 2012 having wrestled the most TV/PPV matches of that year out of all the female wrestlers with 33.
In January 2013, in the twentieth anniversary of RAW, she lost her divas championship title to Kaitlyn. She decided to quit WWE immediately after her loss. Now- a- days she is in her role as an instructor for the Gracie Women Empowered Self-defense program.
Eve made a number of posts wrestling appearances in media & magazines. Though she has left WWE, her craze is still dominant among her fans & audiences.
