WWE News: Jerry Lawler Reveals Interesting Info On His Raw Heart Attack Incident

A shocking incident took place on an episode of Monday Night Raw back in 2012 where Jerry Lawler suffered a heart attack. It was an exceptional yet miraculous incident where the legendary figure overcame a death situation. WWE’s medical staff did a phenomenal job in putting back the rhythm of the heartbeat of Jerry and thereby saving his life.

During an interview on Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler clarified the incident. On an interesting note, he mentioned having a cardiac arrest back on RAW in 2012, not a heart attack. The veteran then went into detail of what exactly happened on that night giving us an in-depth look of the situation.

Jerry Lawler distinguished the difference between the two situations, as mentioned above. A Heart Attack is a situation where ‘all of a sudden there’s blood loss to your heart or a blood clot or something that causes an artery blockage. In comparison, a Cardiac Arrest occurs when ‘your blood is all of a sudden not flowing to part of your heart, and it’s getting damaged.’

“A cardiac arrest is sort of caused by electrical impulses from your brain that tells your heart to keep beating. Suddenly your heart just stops. And the truth of the matter is, only 7 out of 1,000 people survive cardiac arrests, and that’s because usually, those 7 people have them while they’re in the hospital. Because if you don’t get immediate care from a cardiac arrest, you’re dead.”

The Hall of Famer then proceeded to narrate how the medical staff sitting at ringside came to his help. They were the only reason why his life is still intact. Moreover, he suffered the cardiac arrest because he and Randy Orton had just wrestled CM Punk and Dolph Ziggler right before the incident happened. Dolph gave him 10 elbow drops which appeared to be a key factor. Thankfully, it was Doctor Sampson who took things under control,

“And just, fortunately, it happened at ringside and our doctor, Doctor Sampson, was sitting, literally sitting right next to me watching the match as I was. And he started CPR, but my heart once it stopped, it did not beat for 22 minutes. But Doc Sampson and two other paramedics kept giving me CPR for those 22 minutes until they got the paddles, they shocked me seven times and once my heart started back and it was on the right rhythm, thank goodness for the CPR, it was like I suffered no damage to my heart.”
