Batista received a proper send-off as demanded by him from the WWE management. He was able to compete in the dream match that he always wished to close his in-ring career. None other than Triple H was his opponent at Wrestlemania 35 in this particular match which took place under the No Holds Barred gimmick.

5 Controversies Of WWE Superstar Batista’s Life

Why Batista Chose To Face Triple H In His Last Match At Wrestlemania 35?

However, the original planning could have been much different as stated by Batista on the Chris Jericho podcast. As revealed on the talk-show, both he and Triple H wanted their No Holds Barred match at WWE WrestleMania 35 to be a Hell In A Cell match. But Vince McMahon rejected the idea for a particular reason.

Batista Responds To Women Asking To Impregnate Her

Batista disclosed that he pitched the idea of having a Hell in a Cell match at Wrestlemania 35. Triple H also agreed to the match since he wanted to produce a tough fight against his former Evolution brethren. This could have made things full-circle for The Animal.

But Vince McMahon did not want that match to happen inside the hellacious structure. The WWE Chairman wanted cell matches to take place at the annual Hell In A Cell pay-per-view, only. So he nixed the idea,

“Originally, we wanted a have a Hell In A Cell but Vince, because of the pay-per-view, he didn’t want to have a Hell In A Cell, and we really wanted Hell In A Cell.”

The six-time world champion also explained why he wanted a Hell in a Cell match at Wrestlemania. Both Batista and Triple H were familiar to this kind of gimmick matches. Plus, they both have been aged superstars which means the match needed ‘bells and whistles’. Here are more comments in this regard,

“They’re just great matches… they’re violent. We needed bells and whistles. We’re two older guys, we hadn’t wrestled in a long time and we needed the drama. We’ve already got the history, so we just needed the violence.”

The veteran superstar has gone on record to confirm that it was the last time he stepped foot inside the squared circle. He will transition to a full-time Hollywood star bidding goodbye to the pro-wrestling ring.
