205 Live star Mustafa Ali continued to perform on Smackdown Live. Not only he performed some stunning moves but also scored a big upset by pinning WWE Champion Daniel Bryan. It was a tag team match in the main event of the show where Ali teamed with AJ Styles to defeat Daniel Bryan and Andrade “Cien” Almas.
Apparently, a mishap occurred after Mustafa Ali hit the 054 on Bryan. It was basically an inverted 450 splash which Ali uses as his finishing maneuver. It is always a treat to watch such an incredible stunt pulled off by the daredevil 205-Live star. But this time around, there may have been some timing problems leading to a potential injury.
Daniel Bryan received the worst impact of the finisher performed by Mustafa Ali and seemed hurt after the match on Smackdown was over. He was able to go back to the locker room on his own legs but two medical personnel accompanied him towards backstage. This was when the speculation of an injury fuelled up across the internet.

A ‘gif’ video is available trying to find out the exact spot where Mustafa Ali botched the inverted 450-splash. Though it’s unclear, we assume Ali’s landing hurt Bryan’s throats. He was clutching it once the match was over. Even Ali was trying to say sorry once the match was over. After all, wrestling is indeed a physical sport.
Here’s more on the injury, (courtesy wrestlingINC.com)
“Our correspondent at tonight’s tapings noted that ringside trainers immediately came over and checked on Bryan after the match ended as Ali and Styles were celebrating their win. It should be noted that the trainers were already at ringside during the match and did not come out just to check on Bryan.”
Additionally, Daniel Bryan walked to the backstage without his WWE Championship. This was the main reason why the injury rumors started to fuel up. But the good news is that he worked in the taping for next week’s Smackdown Live on the same night. This indicates that the champion is okay and not much harmful happened to him.
Also, Mustafa Ali did not suffer any backstage heat due to this botched move. He was back to work in a singles match for next week’s show. He earned his first solo win on the main roster by defeating Andrade Cien Almas with the same 054-splash. His momentum should put him in a program with Daniel Bryan since he pinned the champion, this week.
