WWE News: Is WWE Planning The Undertaker Vs. Sting Dream Match?
WWE Universe anticipated something big around Summerslam featuring two WWE legends. The official Twitter handle of the company is promoting a dream match between The Undertaker and Sting for the past couple of days. This raised hope for the internet wrestling community to see this one-of-a-kind bout that never ever happened.
However, the reliable source of Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer gave some negative updates around the match. As per him, the dream contest is never happening and Sting is not returning to in-ring competition after announcing retirement. It’s just the social media team who’s teasing the match just because they can. There’s no such creative plan going around this bout.
WWE hinted the match first on their Twitter handle posting a customized picture of The Undertaker and Sting, a few days ago. They followed it up with another video portraying these two’s iconic gimmicks. Fans expected whether it was a hidden indication of seeing the two legends squaring off in a bout. But the reports of Meltzer wiped those out.

As per the veteran, it was just the “website people doing website people stuff”. Speaking on a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, he wiped out the chances of seeing the WCW legend back to the ring. WWE will not allow him either to wrestle since he has a neck concussion. Here are more excerpts from Meltzer’s comments,
“The website people are just doing website people stuff. There’s nothing in that direction. I know people are going, ‘Are they going to do it [have a match]?’ but Sting’s done. The belief among everyone there is that Sting cannot get cleared, nor is he going to attempt to get cleared, nor do they want him to get cleared.”

The Undertaker has been an old guard of the WWE programming since the 90s whereas Sting was the same for WCW. When Vince McMahon acquired the WCW promotion, Sting never felt the need to show up here until it was 2014. He competed in only three matches in combined before picking up the concussion at Night of Champions against Seth Rollins. It sent him into retirement and thereby the chances of seeing the dream match ended forever.
