Last night marked one final confrontation between Daniel Bryan and Kofi Kingston before their Wrestlemania 35 match. So we expected a solid hype up around this match that will decide the fate of the WWE Championship. However, for some reasons, WWE creative chose to avoid any sort of physical encounters and kept the segment with verbal jabs. Some of the fans may not be happy with this segment which ended Smackdown, as well.
Originally, we were about to see a WWE Championship contract signing between Daniel Bryan and Kofi Kingston on Smackdown. Bryan showed up at first to cut a heated promo on his opponent, (via WWE.com)
“Bryan stressed that Kofi has been complacent and a bystander in his own life and career for the past 11 years. An irate Bryan claimed that Kingston’s current position was more “fad” than “reality.” The WWE Champion told Kofi to take all of this in because it would never get any better than this for him.”
Kofi Kingston heard enough of Daniel Bryan’s garbage talking and decided to fire back. He waited 11 years for getting this huge opportunity. Now he has received it against a man who experienced the same situation a few years ago. So he is looking forward to turning the table, this time around. The Dreadlocked Dynamo finished the promo saying he will take away the WWE Championship from Daniel Bryan.
The buildup around Smackdown’s main event on Wrestlemania 35 has been great for the last few weeks. Just like Becky Lynch from the women’s division, Kofi Kingston turned out to be the same counterpart of the male locker room. This prime babyface has been targeting a WWE Championship match for quite sometimes and finally received it, last week.
Vince McMahon and Daniel Bryan tried to prohibit him from getting the title shot by setting up mountains against him to climb. He kept on conquering them, earning huge cheers from the WWE Universe. Last week, The New Day won such a tough task in hand when they won a Gauntlet match to make way for Kofi Kingston at Wrestlemania 35.
As announced by WWE.com, we were getting the championship contract signing between Daniel Bryan and Kofi Kingston on Smackdown. It was the final step to make the much-anticipated match official at Wrestlemania 35. Going by the past experiences, Kofi fans expected McMahon to come up with a swerve. However, no such thing was in-store on Smackdown, last night. The segment came up with a below average buildup prior to Wrestlemania.
