WWE News: Roman Reigns Attacked On WWE Raw, Wrestlemania 35 Opponent Hinted
Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins looked forward to ending last night’s WWE Raw on a good note. But a sudden attack changed the plans as well as the course of Wrestlemania 35. With a vicious attack delivered on Roman Reigns, Drew McIntyre is now the favorite name to face him at the biggest event of the year. As seen on the show, the Scottish Psychopath laid him down with an ambush from behind teasing a future match.
Originally, the main event of WWE Raw from Pittsburgh was about to see Roman Reigns in action in a singles contest. This was going to be the first time in a one-on-one action since his comeback from Leukemia. Fans were pumped to see him in this match that never really started. Drew McIntyre pounced on him from the back while he was making his entrance. He hammered away on The Big Dog on several occasions as he tried to fight back.
A Claymore Kick put Roman Reigns down for good. Moments later, he delivered another Claymore through the LED ring-post that hurt Reigns, legit. The officials alongside Seth Rollins ran down to stop Drew McIntyre from the attack. Dean Ambrose went really irate about this wanted to face him in a match.
So Triple H announced the match in a Falls Count Anywhere match capacity. So Drew McIntyre took full advantage of this environment and went on to hurt Ambrose. He put a guardrail on his neck before delivering a Claymore to pick up the win. The Scottish Psychopath stood tall to end the show with a strong statement.
Roman Reigns competed in his comeback match at the Fastlane pay-per-view event. He teamed up with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins to reform The Shield faction in a six-man tag team match. The trio reunified for one last time defeating Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley and Baron Corbin in this match.
Going forward, the biggest question was who could be the Wrestlemania opponent of Roman Reigns. Some of the future house show bookings indicated that Baron Corbin could be that name. But this lineup is not so much strong on-paper that could resemble Wrestlemania-caliber. So the rumor mill mentioned a backup plan.
Dean Ambrose was about to turn heel again to set up a match against Roman Reigns. Apparently, the anticipation was that the backstabbing could happen at Fastlane to confirm this lineup at Wrestlemania 35. However, that did neither happen at the bygone event and nor on this week’s WWE Raw. Rather, WWE chose a new opponent for the poster boy of the company in the form of Drew McIntyre.
