First of all, Roman Reigns did not come out as a WWE competitor on WWE Raw. He was standing in front of the fans as simply Joe Anoa’i who is just another man like rest of the fans. These were his words,
“For months, maybe even a whole year, I’ve come out here as Roman Reigns and said I’d come out here every week, that I’d be a fighting champion, that I was going to be consistent, that I was going to be a workhorse – but that’s all lies.”
The crowd was wondering what he was talking about especially he was in red eyes. Prior to that, he even missed a couple of house shows which is unusual for a fighting Universal Champion like him. Without further due, he addressed the elephant in the room declaring that he is battling with leukemia,
“I’ve been living with leukemia for 11 years, and unfortunately it’s back… I’m going to have to relinquish the Universal Championship.”
