WWE News: Saudi Arabia Wanted To Spend $20 Million For A Legend’s Return
WWE did not back down from hosting events in Saudi Arabia, last year. There were sheer controversies ever since the confirmations were made regarding WWE going to the middle-eastern country. The primary reason behind the same was the country’s outdated behavior towards the women superstars. They still can’t perform in Saudi Arabia.
WWE has hosted several live events in the country over the years. Starting in 2018, the trend got even bigger as we have started receiving global PPVs, there. WWE and Saudi Arabia sports authority signed a contract for the next years. By virtue of that, we are likely to see plenty of global PPV events in the following years, there.
Jamal Khashoggi controversy could not resist WWE from visiting Saudi Arabia. They have received a lucrative money deal that goes around 50-60 million dollars to host each of the shows.
Reports also suggest that the sports authority of the country offered around $20 million just asking a return from an Attitude Era superstar. He is none other than The Rock. Apparently, they wanted him to come back in the PPV programming not only as a superstar but also defeat Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship.

“According to the Dirty Sheets, Saudi Arabia officials want Old School WWF Legend The Rock to appear as WWE Champion (or Universal Champion – basically as a World Champion) at the planned April/May 2019 show in Saudi Arabia and they have offered to give $20 million for this appearance!”
Rumors suggest that Brock Lesnar vs. The Rock is still the plan for Wrestlemania 35. But we can’t confirm this Universal Championship match for the show as The Rock may not be available. He would have defeated the beast incarnate for the prime title of WWE Raw at the grandest stage. An automatic rematch would take place at Saudi Arabia in April or May 2019.
WWE might have promoted this as ‘the avenge of loss’ from Summerslam 2002. The company could have gone to any extent to bring marquee names for the promotions of Saudi Arabia show. But Hollywood schedule of The Rock is the biggest constraint in this case. To date of this writing, the aforementioned match is still out of the sight.
