WWE News: Survivor Series Team Captain And Members Declared On WWE Raw

Survivor Series is going to be the next big event in WWE programming. This has been the last dual-brand PPV event in the WWE calendar for the last couple of years. This year, all the PPV events have been dual-brand shows from Wrestlemania onwards giving a big-time feel. But we should note that Survivor Series is the second longest running PPV in WWE history.

It is running from the past 32 years which is just after Wrestlemania show. WWE also introduced a new theme to rejuvenate the relevance of the show since the brand split. This is one night of the year where WWE Raw and Smackdown goes head to head. All the champions square off against their respective opponents giving us some fantastic contests.

This year would be no different as WWE already confirmed some big matches. Plus, there would be the traditional Survivor Series 5-on-5 tag team match. This has been an annual norm for this particular show. Five superstars from WWE Raw will go up against five from Smackdown to determine brand supremacy. This has been a regular thing since the brand extension.

This tag match will return on November 18th at Survivor Series. Choosing superstars for this occasion began on WWE Raw, last night. Baron Corbin announced himself to be the team captain on behalf of WWE Raw. He can’t compete due to his managerial duties on behalf of the show. He also appointed Alexa Bliss as the team captain from the women’s division who would also not compete in the actual match.

Furthermore, Drew McIntyre, Dolph Ziggler, and Braun Strowman would be the first three names from Team WWE Raw. The original general manager Kurt Angle had a problem with these decisions. So he showed up and wished to compete in a match against Baron Corbin. The winner of the match would become the team captain from the red brand at Survivor Series.

The match never happened since Baron Corbin escaped the building in fear of Braun Strowman. But he did appoint a proxy for him in the form of Drew McIntyre. So this gave us a solid main event last night in Manchester, England. This also marked Kurt Angle coming back to action on WWE Raw after twelve years.

Things go terribly wrong for him as Drew McIntyre hit an early Claymore Kick to him to take control. Despite coming back with German suplexes, McIntyre mocked him with an Angle Slam. Thereafter, he locked in the Ankle Lock on the Olympic Gold Medalist forcing to tap out. This handed out the most humiliating loss of Angle’s career. It also kept Baron Corbin intact as the captain of WWE Raw for Survivor Series.
