WWE RAW and Smackdown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch is on the top of the world after Wrestlemania 35. She already had the main-eventer tag attached to her heading into the show. By the end of the night, she came out as the winner of the marquee match creating history. She did the unthinkable of pinning the former champion Ronda Rousey while doing so setting a record. But the biggest record was to win the dual championship on one night.
This is the first time that WWE has crowned someone with both the RAW and Smackdown Women’s Championships at the same time. They have kept the “Winner Take All” stipulation during the Wrestlemania main event. This raised the fans questioning about whether WWE is thinking to unify both the titles, going forward.
WWE has teased the same for the men’s division titles, as well. The very next night after Wrestlemania, WWE Champion Kofi Kingston and WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins had a match with the same stipulation. Even the New Smackdown Tag Team Champion Matt Hardy and new RAW Tag Team Zack Ryder proposed another “Winner Takes All” match. So what this means?
Becky Lynch recently responded to the speculations in an interview with the Gorilla Position. While speaking about the title unification, she seemed absolutely against the idea. The Man intended to defend both her championships on different occasions but wiped out the chances of unification. This might be a good indication that WWE is keeping both the titles on Raw and Smackdown. Here’s what she has stated, (courtesy wrestlingINC.com)
“Nope, absolutely not. Nope, I want to defend both of them and I don’t see a point for them to be unified because we have two different brands, we have RAW and SmackDown. If we go back to one brand, maybe, but maybe not, nah! No! I’m ‘Becky Two Belts,’ I need two belts and also I just like there being more things for people to fight for.”
Becky Lynch also responded to her current rival Lacey Evans. We have previously reported that WWE is planning to arrange a title match between these two names for the upcoming pay-per-view. But the current champion raised the question whether she’s worthy of it,
“Has she main-evented WrestleMania? Does she have two championships? Has she ever had a championship? Who has she ever beaten? I’ve beaten the toughest opponents in this industry. Lacey Evans can’t say nothing, yes, she hit me with the first punch [on RAW], I hit her with the last.”
Despite her absolutely no accomplishments on the main roster, Lacey Evans should get a title match, as per current storyline. This will be the first championship defense for Becky Lynch after her title win at Wrestlemania 35
