WWE News: WWE Changes Plan For A Big Championship Match At Wrestlemania 35

Wrestlemania 35 is approaching fast and WWE seems to have finalized the match card for the show. Most of the title matches seem to have a confirmed lineup except for the Smackdown Women’s Championship. Asuka has been the reigning champion who could barely leave a mark with the title around her waist.
Undertaker to return to face a legend at Wrestlemania 35?
Record to be set at Wrestlemania 35
It’s not her fault, though as the creative team failed to give her proper opponents. There were rumors that WWE had a plan around her for the biggest event of the year. Apparently, a solid title match could be waiting for her. Later the opponent’s name surfaced out to be Lacey Evans who was heading into a big push.
But plans may have changed yet again as per the recent hints from John Pollock of Post Wrestling. She confirmed that Evans is no more a name considered for the challenger’s spot. Rather, two unexpected names from the Smackdown roster might end up having a Wrestlemania match. Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. Here’s more from SportsKeeda.com,
“Her potential opponents? None other than Mandy Rose and Sonya DeVille, who are both seemingly teasing a break-up. It would be interesting to see the direction they go, and a triple threat match is fine as long as Asuka retains the title. With that said, hopefully, Fire & Desire doesn’t break-up, because Sasha Banks & Bayley will need fresh title challengers when they jump over to SmackDown to defend their tag titles.”
Asuka won the SmackDown Women’s Championship at TLC 2018 winning a triple threat match. She defeated Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch i.e. the two Wrestlemania main-eventers on the same night. It also marked her debut championship win on the main roster. So we never doubted that a solid title run was coming up for her.
The reality turned out to be totally different as WWE failed to create significant storylines for her. Sure, Asuka again defeated Becky Lynch again at Royal Rumble. But nobody seems to care or remember about it now that we are just days away from Wrestlemania 35. To date, there’s no confirmed opponent for her on that night.
However, as mentioned above, Mandy and Sonya might continue to stand against her at Wrestlemania 35. With the lack of in-depth of the Smackdown women’s roster, Asuka might not have an alternative choice to pick. Even storylines also suggested so in last week’s episode of Smackdown. That should continue in the future weeks of WWE retains the triple threat lineup.
