WWE Raw presented the very last episode of 2018, last night. It had a steel cage match on the card to open the show. A championship match was also on the show where the champion retained in a dominant fashion. Apart from that, the women’s champion featured in a big tag team match in the main event of the night. Here are the results from the show that took place at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.
The steel cage came down as we go live into the arena to open WWE Raw. Dolph Ziggler made his way to compete against Drew McIntyre in the opening contest. The crowd broke into ‘let’s go Ziggler’ chants supporting the show-off. But McIntyre picked up the win after delivering two Claymore Kicks on Ziggler. McIntyre delivered the third Claymore with a chair followed by a fourth one to lay him down.
Seth Rollins cut a promo on WWE Raw speaking about the fresh start. He called out Dean Ambrose as the mandatory rematch is still due. Triple H interrupted informing mandatory ‘rematch clause’ does not exists anymore. Rather he will have to face Bobby Lashley in a match. A battle royal was announced to determine a new number one contender for the Intercontinental Championship.
This Battle Royal was next on WWE Raw. Baron Corbin eliminated all three members of the Lucha House Party. Apollo Crews, Corbin, and Curt Hawkins were the last three superstars to stand in the ring. Corbin eliminated Hawkins but Crews came from the back and threw him over the top rope to win this match.
Baron Corbin was not happy about things being unfair to him on WWE Raw. Elias appeared on the ramp with a special New Year’s Eve song which was a verbal jab to Corbin. Corbin started a brawl with Elias at the ramp area. Elias stood tall sending Corbin to retreat.
Bayley, Sasha Banks, and Ember Moon competed in a six-woman tag team match against The Riott Squad. It was a back and forth contest where Bayley picked up the win. She delivered an elbow from the top rope on Logan to get the pinfall after Moon neutralized Riott and Morgan with a superfly.
Lio Rush cut his usual heel promo to receive ‘what’ chants from WWE Raw crowd. Bobby Lashley then competed in his scheduled match against Seth Rollins who disqualified the match. He brought a chair and hit it on Lashley’s back. He also assaulted Rush with it that received huge cheers from the crowd. Rollins was able to bring out the vicious side of him as per the demand of Triple H.
Rhyno returned to tag team action with his buddy Heath Slater. They competed against the team of Jinder Mahal and Singh Brothers in a 2-on-3 handicapped match. Singhs distracted crowd’s hot favorite Rhyno allowing Mahal to deliver the Cobra Clutch Slam for the victory.
Dean Ambrose cut a promo complaining about Apollo Crews winning the battle royal and getting an IC title shot. Crews competed in the title match that was a slow paced one on WWE Raw. Ambrose connected with the Dirty Deeds after Crews missed a frog splash to retain his title.
Nia Jax and Tamina Snuka returned on the show attacking Natalya at the backstage area. This set up the main event of the night where WWE RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey and Natalya teamed up against these two. Rousey and Natalya started the match in a quick-fire way. Tamina tried to hit a superfly. But she missed the move letting Ronda lock in the arm-bar and pick up the submission win.
