WWE Rumor: Former NXT Champion To Challenge Undertaker At Summerslam!

WWE Universe could barely think of seeing The Undertaker back in the ring within just three weeks of Super ShowDown. It was a disastrous outing for him against Goldberg that witnessed a number of botches. But he is back in no time to remove the bad taste of the fans’ mouth at the upcoming pay-per-view event named Extreme Rules.

When Would Paul Heyman & Eric Bischoff Take Over Raw-Smackdown?

As seen on Raw, The Undertaker targeted Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre aligning himself with Roman Reigns. This will produce a dream team featuring Reigns and ‘Taker that in turn will culminate the tag team match at Extreme Rules. Interestingly, WWE did not set up this match but rather the Deadman wanted this to happen.

As per the reports of Sports Illustrated, The Undertaker gave WWE a short list of potential opponents for his next match. It happened following the WWE Super ShowDown match with WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg which was a complete debacle. Drew McIntyre was one of his requested opponents on that list. Thus the Scottish Superstar will get an opportunity to share the ring with the greatest ever sports entertainer.

Plus, Drew McIntyre is currently favorite to face the Undertaker at this year’s Summerslam. He is coming back to action at the July 14 WWE Extreme Rules which should plant the seeds for a match at the biggest event of the summer. However, this is purely a rumour at this point whereas there’s also no update which other superstars Undertaker wanted to face as per his list.

Meanwhile, Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that WWE planned the Undertaker’s upcoming match at Extreme Rules much before Super ShowDown happened. After the match with Goldberg failed, the Phenome wanted to come back as early as possible to wipe out the bad taste from audience’s mouth. match. WWE Hall of Famer Booker T speculated the same on his podcast,

“No one thought that they would see The Undertaker this soon after Super ShowDown, in what we would call, ‘the incident’,” Booker T said. “No one thought we would see him this soon, but me personally, I think Undertaker was thinking, ‘Man, I gotta go get this bad taste out of my mouth. I gotta get rid of it and do something to make me forget.'” (courtesy wrestlingINC.com)
