WWE Rumor: WWE To Use Sonjay Dutt For NXT India Brand
For those who follow Impact Wrestling, you must be familiar with the name of Sonjay Dutt. He was a regular name at the mid-card roster of WWE’s rival brand. Plus, his other identity is that he belongs to India which gives us an added reason why we may want to follow him. Now rumors broke out that he is heading to the WWE to play an interesting role.
Impact Wrestling used Sonjay Dutt as not only a wrestler but also a backstage head around. TNA’s X-Division revolved around him for quite sometimes. In fact, he won this X-Division Championship in May 2017 in Mumbai, India. It was a first time ever that any of the pro-wrestling company hosted a taping for their weekly episodes.
Sonjay Dutt was an integral part of that campaign being an Indian. WWE is eyeing the same trying to grab the market of subcontinent using a superstar belonging to here. For years now, WWE has intended to spread their wings on the Indian market. But ever since The Great Khali left, they could not get the X-factor to garner enough attention.
Well, they might be trying to dig down with a veteran like Sonjay Dutt who’s around the American pro-wrestling circuit for a long time. For most of his career, he works for the TNA brand that later changed into Impact Wrestling brand. That status kept intact until PWInsider.com revealed that he left his former employer.
Now, cagesideseats.com has revealed the potential reason why Sonjay Dutt may be heading to the WWE. Speculations indicate that it has to do something with WWE’s expansion plans in India. The company might be intending to open a Performance Center in India. So the new recruit could become a key figure in this plan.
Sonjay Dutt was involved in a backstage producer’s role in Impact Wrestling, for the time being, he was not performing as a wrestler. So his experience could come as handy while working for India and make WWE’s mission India a grand success. Additional reports indicate that the company might be looking forward to opening an NXT India brand.
It would be similar to the NXT UK brand to take over the independent circuit of the country. This is a good idea to secure the emerging talents into their roster so that no other company put hands on them. No other information is available on this venture of the company. Also, all of these are rumors at this point. We expect further information to be available on this in due course.
