Smackdown Live promised to be a loaded show last night as we anticipated a big revelation from Daniel Bryan about Roman Reigns. He was also in action against Buddy Murphy. Plus, two King of the Ring tournament matches also took place last night where two superstars advanced to the next round. Also, some of the Clash of Champions storylines kicked off on the show that took place at the Denny Sanford Premier Center, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Randy Orton’s music hut the arena to kick things off for this week’s Smackdown. He was happy to hurt Kofi Kingston and the rest of the New Day members on Raw with RKOs. As his promo continued, New Day’s music started to play as Kofi appeared from behind and hit him with a Trouble in Paradise. He took a chair and targeted Orton’s knees. The Revival ran down to make the save but they digested a few chair shots from the WWE Champion to go down.
The opening contest of Smackdown featured a first-round matchup of King of the Ring tournament where Andrade competed against Apollo Crews. Andrade blocked an Olympic Slam attempt and hit an Enziguiri. Crews followed up with a Standing Shooting Star Press for a two-count. Zelina Vega slowed down Crews by interfering as Andrade leveled him. He hit the Hammerlock DDT on Crews to pick up the big win.
Charlotte Flair appeared on “A Moment of Bliss” with the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross on Smackdown Live. Flair talked about how women’s division is a mess with Bayley being the champion on the blue brand. She challenged Bayley for a title match at Clash of Champions which she readily accepted to set up the next championship match. Bayley then shoved the stool off where Charlotte was sitting to trip her.
Daniel Bryan vs. Buddy Murphy happened next on Smackdown as Bryan cut a promo trying to change Murphy’s mind as he accused Rowan of attacking Roman Reigns. Murphy started the match with a big flying knee for a close 2 count. He sent Bryan out of the ring with a high-fly. But Bryan came back with a Rings of Saturn Lock followed by his pendant LeBell Lock. Murphy came back hitting a running sitdown powerbomb and leveled Rowan with a Superkick. He delivered the Murphy’s Law to get a huge win over Bryan. After the match, Bryan and Rowan attacked Murphy at the backstage area.
The Revival vs. The Heavy Machinery happened next on Smackdown Live that started with a promo from Dash and Dawson about the attack of Kofi Kingston from earlier the night. The match started as Otis took control with some offensive moves. He hit the Caterpillar and tagged Tucker to set up for the Compactor. Dawson ran in and hit him with a drop-kick. Dash then rolled up Tucker to pick up the win.

The Miz introduced Sami Zayn as his special guest in an edition of Miz TV on Smackdown. Sami talked about how he is the greatest competitor and some of the locker room members need his help. Shinsuke Nakamura appeared in the ring to join and support Sami. Soon he dropped The Miz with a kick. Nakamura hit Miz with some big right hands before dropping him with a Kinshasa.
King of the Ring First Round Match was the main event with the lineup of Elias vs. Kevin Owens with the condition if Owens put his hand on the referee, his contract will be terminated. So Shane McMahon appeared in be middle of the match wearing a jersey referee distracting Owens. Elias rolled him up from the back as Shane counted in the fastest way to hand over the win to Elias.
Roman Reigns entered the room of Daniel Bryan and Rowan as the match ended. They showed an unknown bearded man who looks just like Rowan to Reigns. The Big Dog looked confused and stared down to the mystery man as Smackdown went off the air.
