Australia opener David Warner has backed Virat Kohli to come out of his lean patch with the bat and he also urged the critics to understand his situation. Warner believes that Virat Kohli has earned the right to fail with the number of matches he won for his country.

Notable that despite the Indian test team achieving new heights in the past year, Virat Kohli didn’t contribute much with the bat. He hasn’t scored a century in any form of cricket since November 2019. Since Jan 2020, he scored only 652 runs in 25 Test innings with an average of 26.08 which included only five fifties.

David Warner was chosen Man of The Tournament in the T20 World Cup.

“A lot of people talk about Virat Kohli’s form over the last couple of years. We have gone through a pandemic. He has just had a baby. We only see how well he has done. You are allowed to fail. You have earned the right to fail when you are so good at what you do” Warne spoke to Boria Majumdar on a chat show ‘Backstage With Boria’.

“People say Steve Smith doesn’t score a century in his fourth innings because stats say he scores a century every four innings. He is human. You are allowed to have a rough trot. That is why there are a lot more pressure on those guys. But would not feel the pressure, I guarantee that,” he added.

The last few months haven’t been easy for Kohli as he was sacked from ODI captaincy as his contradictory statement against BCCI president Sourav Ganguly indicated the sour relations between him and BCCI.

Currently, he is leading India in the 3-match series against South Africa as India is eying for the first Test series win in the rainbow nation. He missed out on the second test due to an upper back spasm as the hosts leveled the series with a 7-wicket win at Johannesburg. The third and final Test will be played from January 11 at Cape Town.

Meanwhile, things are going back on track for David Warner who was sacked from captaincy for his IPL franchise, Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last season. But since then, he has turned things around as the left-hander was given ‘Man of the Tournament award in the T20 World Cup held in UAE. Then he also scored a couple of 90s in the Ashes as Australia is currently leading the series by 3-0.
