Krunal Pandya is an Indian cricketer who represents Baroda in domestic cricket. He is an allrounder who bats left-handed in the middle-order and bowls left-arm spin. He is the senior brother of Indian allrounder Hardik Pandya.
Krunal is another player who shot to limelight due to the Indian Premier League. Just like his brother, Krunal is also an aggressive batsman and has been a regular feature for Baroda in the domestic season. He came to the fore after being picked up by Mumbai Indians for 2 crore rupees for the 2016 season of the IPL. He made an instant impression with his all-round performance.
Prior to earning his maiden IPL contract, he had impressed in domestic cricket. He was the leading run-scorer and leading wicket-taker for Baroda in 2016-17 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He scored 366 runs in 8 matches, averaging 45.75 and strike rate of 81.33. In bowling, he took 11 Wickets in 8 matches with economy rate of 4.82 and an average of 25.09.
He continued his form in IPL too. In an otherwise dismal season for the team, he was one of their brightest sparks. Krunal finished the season with 237 runs and 6 wickets. He did even better in 2017, scoring 243 runs in addition to picking up 10 wickets, helping his side lift the title. Those performances helped him earn a place in India A’s squad for the tri-series in South Africa, involving the hosts and Afghanistan A.
In 2018, he was re-signed by Mumbai Indians.
