The hopes of Narsingh Yadav and Indian fans faced a major jolt when out of the blue the blue the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) overturned the decision of WADA and banned Narsing Yadav for a period of four years. The CAS declined to accept the sabotage theory of Narsingh Yadav and took this harsh step against the Indian wrestler. As per the rules, the ban starts from today itself.

Narsingh was totally devastated with this judgment made against him and vowed to prove his innocence at any cost.

“To say I am devastated at the decision of CAS would be putting it mildly. I have gone through so much over the last two months off the mat but the thought of fighting for the glory of the nation at the Games had kept me going.”

“My dream of competing and winning the country a medal at the Rio Games has been cruelly snatched away from me twelve hours before my first fight, but I will do everything it takes to prove my innocence. It is all I have left to fight for,” Narsingh said.

JSW Sports, the sponsors of Narsingh Yadav continued to show utmost faith on Narsingh Yadav and demanded a further examination of the case stating that this was an act of sabotage. “Narsingh is, first and foremost, an athlete of India who we proudly support and will continue doing so. Ever since he has earned a berth to represent the country at the Olympic Games, Narsingh has been put through an ordeal that no athlete should have to ever go through.

“We strongly believe in Narsingh’s innocence and will stand by the wrestler in doing everything to fight for justice. We will be pressing for a review of the decision that WADA would be amenable to if further evidence is found pertaining to sabotage.” Said the sponsors.

Narsingh Yadav’s urine sample was tested positive for steroid methandienone on June 25 and July 5 but he challenged the decision in front of Indian panel saying that someone deliberately added the banned substance to his food to sabotage his career but the CAS has not accepted the Narsingh’s theory and instead banned him for four years.

Narsingh has to vacate the games village by Friday as per the rules.
