Davis Cup 2015: The Czech Republic takes a 2-1 lead against India as Bopanna-Paes disappoints

India doubles pair of Leander Paes and Rohanna Bopanna lost to Radek Stepanek and Adam in straight sets 5-7,2-6, 2-6 at the RK Khanna Stadium, New Delhi earlier today. It was a disappointing performance by the doubles pair from India who were well supported by a huge crowd at the stadium.

In the first game, both pairs started off well holding their serves. The Indian duo lost the serve to the Czech Republic pair in the 5th game to give Czech an important 3-2 lead. The Czech Republic made sure that they capitalize on the chances. The Indians made a comeback by breaking the Czech Republic serve to equal the score at 5-5. The Indians were broken and soon after the Czech Republic took the first set 7-5. In the second game, the Indian pair was not up to the mark and Czech pair took full advantage of it. The Indians were broken and were not allowed to come back into the match. The Czech Republic won the second set easily 6-2. In the 3rd game, the Czech Republic continued to cash in on the mistakes done by the Indian pair. The Czech Republic took a 2-0 lead. There was a little more drama as the Indians thought they have got the game point at 40-30, but the Czechs challenged the call and called it right. The Indians lost the game and match 5-7,2-6,2-6.

With this, India is trailing behind. Yuki Bhambri will face Jiri Vesley and Somdev Devvarman will take on Lukas Rosol in reverse single matches tomorrow. India needs to win both matches to re-enter into elite 16 nation World Group.
