Fourth seeds Sharan-Shamasdin beaten at Tashkent ATP Challenger
Tashkent, Oct 13 (IANS) Unseeded Radu Albot of Moldavia and Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania defeated fourth seeds Adil Shamasdin Canada and Divij Sharan of India 6-2, 6-4 to enter the men’s doubles quarter-finals of the $125000 Tashkent ATP Challenger here on Tuesday.
In the first round of the singles event, Jan Santral of Czech Republic defeated fifth seeded World No.106 Radu Albot of Moldavia 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 in 1 hour 44 minutes.
Local favourite Denis Istomin edged out Belarusian Uladzimir Ignatik 7-6 (5), 6-4 in 1 hour 25 minutes. Second seeded Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis took just 52 minutes to end the run of German qualifier Kevin Krawietz, winning 6-4, 6-0.
Title holder and third seed here Slovakian Lukas Lacko scraped past Croatian Franko Skugor 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 in 1 hour 35 minutes. Another former winner and sixth seed Dudi Sela of Israel faced some anxious moments before overcoming qualifier Ilya Ivashka of Belarus 6-2, 7-6 (3) in 1 hour 33 minutes.
