Davis Cup: Somdev Devvarman puts India level with Czech

India equaled the tie against the Czech Republic in the Davis Cup tie played at the DLTA Khanna Stadium, New Delhi few moments ago. Czech Republic team got off to a perfect start winning the first match, but Somdev equaled with a great win over his opponent.

In the first match, Yuki Bhambri took on Lukas. From the start, Lukas dominated the game. Yuki Bhambri was broken and served extremely flat and furious strokes imposing himself on Yuki. Both players began with solid holds and equaled at 2-2. The Czech Republic player served at a speed of 210km per hour. Yuki did not hold the serve and gave Lukas 3-2 lead. Lukas continued to serve very fast and took the set 6-2. In the second game, Lukas hold his serve twice and broke Yuki Bhambri twice raced to 4-0 lead. Yuki Bhambri held his service, but Lukas took the second set 6-1. In the third game, Yuki Bhambri attacked a bit more but his unforced errors cost him the match.  Yuki was 3-1 up but was not able to capitalize and Lukas equaled at 3-3. Lukas won the third set 7-5 and gave Czech Republic 1-0 lead.

In the second match, Somdev took on Vesel. In the first few games, there were long rallies and both players hold their service. Somdev played some attacking tennis and Vesley was tired due to heat. The first set went into the tie breaker and Somdev won it 7-2 to give a 1-0 lead in the game. In the second game, Somdev broke the service of Vesley twice. Vesley was playing shots in the net and also outside the court. Somdev took the second set 6-4. In the third game, Somdev continued to dominate and broke the services of Vesley. Somdev won the third set 6-3 to level the score at 1-1.

Tomorrow, there will be important doubles match as Leander Paes and Rohan Bopanna will fight it out to take the lead.
