Leander Paes is eagerly looking forward to the Rio Olympics next year in Brazil. The legendary Indian tennis player expects himself and his partner Rohan Bopanna to bring home a gold medal in the doubles event and thinks it’s just a matter of belief.

“Bopanna is a phenomenal player. I believe in him and I do believe we can win an Olympic medal together. As long as we believe in each other we can win medals,” Paes said. “It is about our belief because we have the tennis and fitness in us. I have got a phenomenal partner in Rohan. He is a hell of a tennis player. I believe in his abilities,”

Paes has been in terrific form this year winning mixed doubles at Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open along with the Swiss Martina Hingis. Also, Paes is the only Indian player to have won a medal at the Olympics.

The 42-year-old has reigned in Olympics event earlier in his career winning a bronze medal in the singles event at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.
