World no.2 Maria Sharapova withdraws from Rogers cup due to an injury on her right leg. The Russian has not played a tournament since her semi-final defeat against Serena Williams. Rogers cup is one tournament in which the Russian hasn’t saw much success with 2009 fnals being her best result.
This is what the Russian had to say about her withdrawal “I’m very disappointed to have to withdraw from next week’s Rogers cup due to a side strain that occurred in training few days ago”.
“I did everything possible to be ready, but my doctors has advised me that I can’t compete next week. The Rogers cup is one of the amazing events on the WTA and I will miss my amazing fans”
Day one action of the Rogers cup begins from August 10th in Montreal.
