Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray will be seen participating in the doubles at Rogers Cup. While the Spaniard Rafael Nadal will be seen participating with his fellow countrymen Fernando Verdasco, Murray will be seen pairing up with the Indian doubles sensation Leander Paes.
Few of the other singles players like Gael Monfils, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Stan Wawrinka, signed on for doubles. Eugene Lapierre, tournament director of the Rogers Cup said, “The doubles event deserves more attention.”
“We are happy to have a strong list this year with a good mixture of doubles specialist, who can entertain and some singles players, who have flashes of brilliances in doubles.”
Nadal has been seen participating in doubles right from the start of 2015 and he has been successful pairing up with the Argentinian Juan Monaco winning the title in Doha. However, in the rest of the season he hasn’t been much successful in the doubles category. Nadal mentioned that his body needs more matches to get his game back and that should be the specific reason why the Spaniard is participating in doubles event.
The Bryan Brothers are the top seeded team at the Rogers Cup and have won it 4 times. Daniel Nestor will play with Frenchman Edouard Roger-Vasselin with Tennis Canada awarding the second wild card to the Canadian pairing of Adil Shamasdin and Philip Bester.
