Doha, Jan 5 (IANS) Spaniards Fernando Verdasco and Nicolas Almagro qualified for the Qatar Open quarter-finals, beating Belgium’s David Goffin and Germany’s Philip Kohlschreiber, respectively.
Verdasco won 6-1, 7-6 (6) against Goffin here on Wednesday, who came from losing to Rafael Nadal in the final of the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi, reports Efe.
Almagro beat Kohlschreiber with a 7-6, 7-6 scoreline.
In another pre-quarterfinal match, Czech Radek Stepanek beat Belgian Arthur de Greef 6-3, 6-2.
