Wimbledon: Day two men's singles preview

Praveen / 30 June 2015

Day 1 of the Wimbledon kicked off in style with almost all the top seeds going through to round 2. The only two top seeds to fall in the first round are Pablo Cuevas and Tommy Robredo. Day 2 action consists of star studded players to look forward to.

Order of Play – Centre Court :
1. Roger Federer vs Damir Dzumhur:

Roger Federer, who is chasing his eighth Wimbledon title kick starts his campaign against the Bosnian Damir Dzumhur. This match is scheduled to be the second match at Centre Court. The best result for the Bosnian so far is reaching the 3rd round of Australian Open and French Open respectively. However the seven time champion would be tough to handle provided the form the Swiss has been in. Roger Federer should be the man to go through round 2 with ease.

2. Andy Murray vs Mikhail Kukushkin:

Andy Murray, who is regarded as one of the favourites starts his quest for his second Wimbledon title against Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan in round 1. This match is scheduled to be the last match at the centre court. Andy Murray has been in great form in the 2015 season and recently won the Aegon Championships at the Queens club. Murray should be safely through to round 2.

Order of Play – Court 1:
3. Rafael Nadal vs Thomaz Bellucci :

Rafael Nadal, kick starts his campaign against the Brazilian Bellucci which is scheduled to be the first match on Court 1. Nadal, who is seeded 10th has been in poor form in the 2015 season winning just two ATP 250 titles. But to his liking the one of them in grass at Stuttgart which could be a huge confidence for the Spaniard who has been struggling in grass off late. However, Nadal’s draw is the toughest of the lot but the Spaniard will be concentrating just one match at a time without looking too much ahead. Bellucci is been ranked no 41 in the world and this could really be a testing first round for Nadal as the Brazilian has the game to upset Nadal basically in this surface. But still Nadal would be the favourite to go through to round 2.

4. Tomas Berdych vs Jeremy Chardy:

The Czech takes on the Frenchman in his first round which could prove to be a testing stuff early on. This match is scheduled to be the last match at the Court 1. Berdych has been in sublime form in the 2015 season and this surface could certainly be his cup of tea as it suits his powerful groundstrokes and serve. However, Chardy could possess a threat early on for the Czech if he remains aggressive and takes his chances and coming to the net often. Chardy could be a threat for the Czech but still ones bet would be on Berdych to go through safely to round 2.

Star studded matches are lined up for the day 2 action at the Wimbledon and one could not miss any of those Especially with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal who makes those list. Promising day 2 action is on the offer at Wimbledon.
