Wimbledon: Leander Paes looks for his 4th mixed doubles title
Leander Paes and Martina Hingis booked their place in the finals by defeating the American pair Mike Bryan and Bethanie Mattek- Sands in straight sets 6-3,6-4. The Indo-Swiss pair was mighty impressive in the conversion of break points as they managed to convert 3 of their 6 break points.
The 42-year-old Paes has won the mixed doubles title here thrice before. In 1999 he won it with American Lisa Raymond, in 2003 with the legendary Martina Navratilova and in 2010 with Zimbabwean Cara Black. Its double delight for the Swiss Martina Hingis as she features in both mixed doubles finals and Women’s doubles finals with an Indian pair.
In their semi-final clash against Mike Bryan and Bethanie Mattek the Indo-Swiss pair managed to serve 39 of their 58 first serves in and they managed to win 26 of their 39 first serve points which is very impressive. Leander Paes and Martina Hingis faces the Austrian Alexander Peya and the Hungarian Timea Babos. The partnership between Paes/Hingis has been excellent, and they would be the heavy favourite heading into Mixed Doubles finals given their experience to win Grand Slams.
