Sanchez Injury Issue: Chilean Star’s National Team And Arsenal Fight With Each Other
Arsenal and Chilean striker Alexis Sanchez suffered a hamstring injury on international duty last Tuesday. Chilean Coach Juan Antonio Pizzi is keen on starting the forward against Uruguay as he sees no risk in playing Sanchez. Chile’s medical team has confirmed that it is a low grade tear and nothing serious that could have ruled him out for months.
Sanchez trained with the Chilean team despite being injured and had his right thigh bandaged for the training session ahead of the Uruguay game. Earlier Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger slammed the Chilean FA for risking Sanchez despite the player having a serious injury. But Chilean boss Juan Antonio Pizzi had cleared that they are not risking their star player by playing him against Uruguay as the injury is not severe. He also claimed that Sanchez is one hundred percent fit to play against Uruguay.
Pizzi quoted ‘Alexis Sanchez, Arturo Vidal & Claudio Bravo are available for tomorrow’s game against Uruguay,’ said Pizzi.
‘Sanchez is one hundred percent. He’s trained well.
‘At no time we have received pressure from any club. Not Arsenal or Bayern.
‘The health of the players is paramount, we are very responsible.
‘We do not risk to anyone who is not in a position to play.’
Chile are currently placed at number 5 in the CONMEBOL World Cup Qualification standings with 17 points from 11 games. They are in a position of danger and would obviously count on the likes of Alexis Sanchez to perform in the rest of the games. But on the other hand Sanchez also has his commitment to his club. Arsenal has some tough fixtures ahead in the league and they would not like to risk Sanchez as they want him to be fit for their upcoming fixtures.
