India Vs New Zealand 2017, Third T20, Thiruvananthapuram

India clinched the three-match T20 series 2-1, as they defeated New Zealand in the third T20 at Thiruvananthapuram. The match was affected by rain, and it got reduced to eight overs per side.

New Zealand won the toss and chose to bowl first on a pitch which had something to offer for the spinners. India scored 67/5 in their allotted eight overs. Indian openers were dismissed cheaply, as they tried to accelerate early in the innings.

Manish Pandey who came into the side in place of Axar Patel top scored for the Indian team. Pandey faced 11 deliveries for his 17 runs. Hardik Pandya and Virat Kohli also made some contributions with 14 and 13 runs, respectively.

Ish Sodhi picked up two wickets for the Kiwis but gave away 23 runs in his two overs. Jasprit Bumrah was again the pick of the bowlers for the Indian team, as he picked up two wickets and gave away nine runs in his two overs. Grandhomme scored 17 runs and was the only Kiwi batsman who looked in some touch. New Zealand scored 53/7 in their eight overs.

Virat Kohli Stays at the Top of the ICC T20I Rankings

Indian captain Virat Kohli stayed at the top of the ICC T20I rankings, as India defeated New Zealand in the third T20 and clinched the three-match series 2-1. Kohli scored 104 runs and gained 13 points in the ICC rankings which helped him have a 40 points gap over second-placed Aaron Finch.

Mary Kom Wins Fifth Asian Boxing Championship

Mary Kom won her first medal since she last won a gold medal at the Asian Games in Incheon in 2014. India’s only Women’s boxer to win a medal at the Olympic Games has once again brought laurels to her country by winning her fifth Asian Boxing Championship Gold medal.

Mary defeated North Korea’s Hyang Mi Kim in the 48 Kg category of the tournament. It was her first gold medal in this category in the tournament, as she participated in the 51 Kg category in the past.

Shelton Benjamin and Gable defeated The Uso’s to become the new tag team champions.

Becky Lynch defeated James Ellsworth before Carmella kicked him and left him lying in the ring.

AJ Styles defeated Jinder Mahal to become the new WWE Champion.
