Top English clubs may have big money bid rejected for star Everton player
This season, the Premier League top goal-scorers list has a number of new faces including the likes of Jamie Vardy showing that the English domestic league is one of the most competitive ones in Europe.
One such player who has excelled over the past few seasons, is set to be none of the hottest properties in world football in the transfer window after the end of the season.
Belgium international and Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has had a splendid season for the Toffees and has scored 25 goals in all competition for the Goodison Park outfit.
Even with his heroics, Everton stand in the 12th place in the points table, 13 points off of a Champions League spot ad may end up losing their marquee player this summer.
Recently, Lukaku opened up about his future and talking to the Daily Mail revealed that he is ready to take his game to the next level and was adamant that he wants to play in the Champions League next season.
With the Merseyside outfit unable to provide a challenge to the top 4 spot this season, a number of clubs are hoping to price him away from his current club.
Lukaku moved to Everton on a permanent deal from Chelsea in a £28m deal just 18 months ago but he is now expected to cost a shade above £50million for a potential move this summer.
Chelsea and Manchester United are planning to meet the asking price after this season but it is understood that Roberto Martinez is keen to hold on to their main man for the next season.
To add to it, Chairman of Everton, Bill Kenwright has made it clear that the Belgium international will not be allowed to easily walk away.
It is understood that the club wants him to sign a new contract and that it will need a bid well in excess of £50 million to even open talks for the striker.
There is no shortage of clubs who can meet the price with the likes of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain also keeping tabs on the 22-year old but it will be interesting to see if Everton will part ways with their target man come this summer.
With Everton having no chance of reaching the European elite competition next season, Lukaku may well be out of the club next season even as the club try their best to keep him Everton.
Do you think Lukaku will leave Everton this summer?
