Stone Cold On Bret Hart’s Contribution To His Career

Stone Cold Steve Austin is not only one of the biggest names in WWE history but one of the biggest names in professional wrestling history as well.

From the very first day of his WWE debut, Stone Cold has been outstanding. He made his debut under the name of the Ringmaster. He became very famous among the fans in a very short amount of time. Vince McMahon was desperate to push him, when he won the Royal Rumble match in 1997 he was not as famous as he is today.

But the match that changed everything for Stone Cold Steve Austin’s career forever was his submission match with Bret the Hitman Hart from WrestleMania 13. Undoubtedly, it was the best match of that night and it was one of the best matches in WrestleMania history.

Bret Hart’s impact on the career of Steve Austin. The former six times WWE world champion appeared on Talk is Jericho where he discussed the impact that Bret Hart made on his career. The Rattlesnake said;

“It was really interesting because Bret had seen me coming in WCW as he always says, and I’d been an admirer of Bret Hart’s work. I was big into the Hart Foundation – him and Anvil, I loved them as a tag team. I’d been watching Bret for a long time because got to Vince [McMahon] before I did.

“I remember he was going to do surgery to get his hip cleaned up, and he needed an opponent for Survivor Series. He told Vince, ‘Hey, I can make money with this guy.’ I get a phone call from Bret, and he wants to work with me. So, he hand-picked me to come back from his surgery. We would go out there, and it’s an old-school match. It’s kind of classic pro wrestling style. It’s a sold-out crowd in The Garden. We went out there and just turned in an instant classic, and Bret was coming back.

“And if you go back and you watch that match and you watch the finish with that gimmick roll-up off the Million Dollar Dream, then as I roll out because he’s outsmarted me – if you watch his face and this is a shoot, he mouths ‘f**k’ because he’s dead-dog tired.

“He was blown up because he’d been at the house healing up, and it was that grueling of a match. Bret Hart is one of the greatest of all time, so the fact that he hadn’t done a whole lot of in-ring work or none really and had to knock a little bit of ring rust off, he was gassed.

“To that note, Bret was always great 30 minutes into a match of just looking dead-dog tired but fresh as a daisy. But on this occasion, because it was a comeback, he was actually tired after the match because it was that grueling.

Stone Cold

“It was a classic style match that I was very proud of, and at that time, putting in a match like that Vince started to see who and what I could do as a performer as Stone Cold Steve Austin. That match at WrestleMania 13, Bret Hart put me on the map. He made Stone Cold Steve Austin. I had to do a lot myself obviously, but that’s how important Bret Hart was to my career.”

It always feels good when the former wrestlers talk about their impact on each other’s career. Both Austin and Bret Hart were great human beings and their contribution towards professional wrestling will never be forgotten.

Stone Cold Gives An Emotional Statement On His Retirement

The journey of Stone Cold Steve Austin started back in 1995 under WWE. Back then, he was just another wrestler for the promotion whom nobody took seriously. But Vince McMahon knew this young man had something in his eyes.

With two back to back successes such as King of the Ring 1996 and Royal Rumble 1997, Austin’s popularity started to grow. Then came his epic submission match against Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart at WrestleMania 13; the match that changed Austin’s career forever.

Stone Cold Gives An Emotional Statement On His Retirement

Since then, Stone Cold kept on climbing the ladder faster than anyone. He won the WWE World Championship six times in total, his feud with Vince McMahon was something that the world never witnessed before, and it took him to the stars. Everybody thought Austin is going to be the biggest star in pro wrestling history.

And then came the unfortunate thing; back to back injuries. It ruined Austin’s career and he was forced to retire from wrestling. In 2003, he left wrestling forever after his final match against The Rock at WrestleMania XIX.

During his recent appearance on Talk is Jericho, the 56-year-old told that it took a long time for him to get over the fact that he is out of wrestling forever. He also said Vince McMahon seriously wanted him back;

“Man, not really. I think Vince [McMahon] tried talking me into coming back a couple of times. But you know Chris, I love the business so much – I can’t say I love it more than anybody else, I can only speak for myself. But I just love the damn business, and it hurt me so much to leave it. And to me, going back for one match, being like man, why? What am I proving? What are they going to remember? It ain’t about the money. It took me a long time, damn near three years to get over the fact that I left the business.”

On his return;

“If you’re really going to make a comeback, let’s say it was gonna be high-profile match at WrestleMania. Taker, when I talked to him, he trained all year or recovered from having surgery, and then trained for a three or four-month camp to get ready for one match. So, I would really have to undergo a three or four-month camp.

“I’m one of those guys where I don’t have an addictive personality, but I’m addicted to the wrestling business. All of a sudden, if I’m gonna put in all that hard work and get back to being around the ring, being around the business, that is one of my number one passions in my life – to get hooked on it again just for one match and to me, it would have been so anti-climactic. Go out there and do it, and then whatever the finish was.

“And then the people go home, but what does it all mean in the big picture? Stone Cold had a comeback, and the match was a three and a half on Meltzer’s five star rating. ‘It ain’t great enough,’ and even if I crushed it, what would it mean? If I couldn’t be 110 percent Stone Cold Steve Austin, it just wasn’t worth doing. I just said, ‘Man, stay away.’ And I’ve stayed away.”

It must have been the biggest upset in pro wrestling history that Stone Cold had to quit wrestling because of injuries, and that is also quite early. Whatever he does in the future, we hope he remains totally fit.

‘It Turned Out Perfectly’ – Chris Jericho On The Broken Skull Sessions

After Chris Jericho left WWE for the All Elite Wrestling, it never seemed like the former Nine Times WWE IC Champion would ever go to WWE ever again.

But it did not happen as it looked, fortunately. The 50 year old recently joined the Broken Skull Sessions of Stone Cold Steve Austin in WWE. Even though this stuff only takes place backstage but it was one of the most shocking moments of this year so far.

Chris Jericho

But there was nothing too controversial spoken as it was clearly predicted by most of the wrestling pundits. It went more like the Hall of Fame induction of Jeff Jarrett. But things were pretty fun on the Broken Skull Sessions and the anticipation of the fans paid off quite a bit.

Chris Jericho recently appeared on Busted Open Radio where he discussed his interview on the Broken Skull Sessions. He said how he and Steve Austin were adamant to get it done;

Chris Jericho

We were both adamant about how we wanted the show to be done, but if a certain 73-year-old [Vince McMahon] wakes up one day and goes, ‘What? I never said that,’ the whole thing could be changed and wiped off the face of the earth.

There was a lot of trust from Vince and Tony Khan towards both Steve and myself, knowing we wouldn’t go that way. There was no reason to talk about things that were going to bury either side. It was a very positive interview. It was a lot of trust afforded to us. The moment Vince said, ‘do it,’ he knew what we’d be talking about.

If it was anybody else, I don’t know if we would be afforded the same trust and there may have been more ‘snakey snakey,’ but I had Steve’s word and Steve had my word that we would do our best to do a great show. There was no reason to tear anyone down and that’s why it pretty much aired exactly as we spoke. I don’t think much was edited out, a couple of lines here and there, probably ten minutes out of the two hours plus that we talked and that was more for time purposes.

Jericho is now heading towards a feud with the AEW World Champion Kenny Omega and the AEW fans are badly waiting to see this epic feud. Jericho’s involvement in the Inner Circle stable is also quite interesting. We hope to get the best outcome of it.

Chris Jericho On The Promo That Turned Him Face

One of the biggest names in sports entertainment today has to be Chris Jericho. Being the inaugural AEW World Champion, he is right now being planted as the prime babyface of the division.

It is really amazing to see that he is doing so much good even at the age of 50. The recognition of the fans for him is increasing day by day and the guy is totally worth it. Chris Jericho’s recent involvements in the Inner Circle faction are being loved by the fans too. No matter whatever he touches, it turns into gold.

Chris Jericho On The Promo That Turned Him Face

Recently, the former six times WWE World Champion talked to Sports Illustrated where he talked about a lot of things including his babyface turn, how Inner Circle is doing an amazing job, and other interesting stuff. Given below are some highlights;

Says he wanted to do the promo that turned his face in front of a live crowd:

Originally that promo was supposed to air a week prior, but we held off. It was going to resonate, it needed to be done in front of a live crowd. You never know when a promo is going to hit, but in front of a crowd, I was willing to bet this was going to be a home run, and it did.

Eyeing a future world title shot with Kenny Omega:

I’m very proud of my work with Omega. Now we can reverse the roles and do Jericho-Omega III for the world title. That’s going to be a lot of fun.

Chris Jericho

About his new book:

COVID slowed down the printing process, but I’m very proud of this. It’s a whole documentation of my career. It’s for wrestling fans to look at the world of wrestling from 1990 to now through the lens of my career, and it’s a book you’re never going to see like this ever again.

Says he believes this feud with the Pinnacle will make bigger stars out of the Inner Circle:

Whatever I do, I want the Inner Circle involved. This isn’t Jericho and his guys. This is a group of stars that are extremely valuable to the company, and everyone is a bigger star now than before we started the faction. People are going to continue to see that on Dynamite, especially tonight beside Mike Tyson.

Kenny Omega is one of the fewest individuals whom WWE could not sign. And most of the fans do not want to see him in WWE ever. Since WWE’s reputation is going really down for burying talents, Omega’s decision seems right. We hope Chris Jericho along with Omega will do what is best for the fans.

Shawn Michaels Looks back At His Match Against Stone Cold From WrestleMania 14

The main event of WWE WrestleMania 14 between Shawn Michaels and Stone Cold Steve Austin is considered one of the biggest and best WrestleMania main events ever.

Prior to this match, Austin’s legendary submission match against Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart is taken as the turning point of Austin’s career, some fans and critics still believe that it was this match that changed Austin 3:16 forever.

Shawn Michaels Looks back At His Match Against Stone Cold From WrestleMania 14

But Shawn Michaels being the opponent of Austin played a massive role to boost things up for ‘The Rattle Snake.’ Even though the match was mostly dominated by Austin, HBK’s performance on this match will always be remembered as one of the best heel performances in WrestleMania history.

Michaels appeared as a guest on ESPN’s SportsNation before WrestleMania 37 to hype the event where he looked back at this amazing match. He said;

“I was talking to Tyler Breeze about this. He came up to me and he mentioned that. He said, ‘Shawn, it’s the match I show the guys that I train about what real pain looks like.’ He said, ‘You were in real pain that night, and I always use that as a reference point of what it should look like.’

Shawn Michaels

The thing I remember the most – you’re in pain, but any time I thought about something, my body would react. That night, it wouldn’t react and fire off like it usually did. Everything was more laborious – upside down on the turnbuckle, I couldn’t take that with the same glide. It’s a combination of pain and real anger that I was unable to perform in the way I wanted to.

It wasn’t honestly until talking to Tyler that he helped me see that in a different light in that it does have an educational value to it. To me, from a performance standpoint, I was just not anywhere near where I wanted to be. I don’t have a lot of regets honestly, but I would’ve loved to be in top form for Steve [Austin] that night. I wasn’t, but I’m very thankful some good has come from that.”

Shawn Michaels

There are a lot of myths surrounding this match as HBK did not want to give the push to Austin and the Undertaker threatened him that he would take necessary action if did not do so. Even Taker was standing behind the entrance ramp to make sure everything was fine. Even though these are only myths and have no proves.

Shawn Michaels is vastly regarded as Mr. WrestleMania for so many reasons, not only he showcased some amazing matches but also created pushes for the best names in the business. He is truly one of the best men to work with in sports entertainment.

Chris Jericho Reveals How Tony Khan Convinced Him To Join AEW

The former six times WWE World Champion Chris Jericho has been the biggest face of the All Elite Wrestling since joining the promotion. He is the inaugural AEW World champion and going very strong even at the age of 50.

In his 17 year WWE career, Chris Jericho did a lot of things. He had been very famous for his amazing ring presence and excellent mic works. Even in the ending days of ‘The Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla’ his ‘List of Jericho’ was hugely popular among the fans.

Chris Jericho Reveals How Tony Khan Convinced Him To Join AEW

But things could not go very well for Chris Jericho and WWE together. As we have said in some of our previous stories, WWE takes loyal workers for granted. The same thing happened to Jericho as well.

Jericho’s recent appearance Broken Skull Sessions of Stone Cold Steve Austin was pretty shocking as well. He revealed during the session how Tony Khan convinced him to join AEW and more stuff. Given below are some highlights;

Says there was something different about what Tony Khan wanted to do with AEW:

“When AEW was about to start and Tony Khan had this idea. Now, you’ve been around longer than I have but you hear this all the time, ‘oh, there’s going to be a new promotion, there’s a guy whose got money,” whatever, you hear it all the time. So, when I started talking to him, I started realizing that there was something different here about this opportunity to start a new company.”

Chris Jericho

How they began building an impressive roster including the Elite:

“What you need for that, is you need 3 things: finances and passion, that’s one. You need a television contract, and you need talent. You need about 4-6 guys you can build a territory around. Talking to Tony, he had the finances, he had the passion. Then when we started sniffing around, we realized there was a group of guys whose contracts were all coming up at the same time.

Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega, Young Bucks, Chris Jericho, Hangman Page, guess what? There’s your six guys right there, you can start a company on that. 6 legit guys you can build around and Jericho’s got the name value. These other guys, Cody to an extent, but nobody had really heard of the Young Bucks in the mainstream, or Kenny, or Hangman. So, when you see these guys, you’re like ‘where have these guys been?”

Chris Jericho
Chris Jericho. Image Credits: Twitter

On getting the contract with TNT:

“All 3 of those factors all came together in a perfect storm to where we’re like we have a chance to really do something here. The contract with TNT was big because I think at first we were thinking maybe Showtime, or HBO, or Netflix, all these different ideas. But you have to have network TV to get off the ground and TNT provided that.”

Chris Jericho is one of those few wrestlers who did not bend down because of age. Even at the age of 50, he is quite a main eventer. We are pretty sure that there are more title reigns are waiting for the former nine times WWE IC Champion.

How Chris Jericho Adopted The Leader Role Of The AEW Locker Room

Without any doubt, Chris Jericho is one of the biggest names in the All Elite Wrestling right now. He became the first-ever AEW World Champion and it seems like there are plenty more to come.

Chris Jericho previously said how hard it was for him to leave WWE after serving them and working with them for almost 20 years. But there are things that always made us believe that WWE always takes their old and loyal wrestlers for granted.

Chris Jericho
Chris Jericho. Image Credits: Twitter

How Chris Jericho Adopted The Leader Role Of The AEW Locker Room

Another example of this must be Kane’s Hall of Fame induction. He has been one of the most influential and loyal wrestlers for WWE, and in return, WWE gave him the Hall of Fame in an empty arena. We honestly believe this has been a huge injustice for the Big Red Machine.

Chris Jericho on the other hand received similar treatment when his match against Kevin Owens was removed from the main events of WrestleMania 33. Not many people know about this news always remained hidden behind the kayfabe curtain.

Jericho’s appearance on WWE’s Broken Skull Sessions of Stone Cold Steve Austin was much talked about among the wrestling fans too. A lot of things were disclosed by Y2J in this interview. Some highlights are given below;

Chris Jericho
Chris Jericho. Image Credits: Twitter

How he told the roster at Double or Nothing that they were making history:

Our first show was in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand and we sold it out. I had a team meeting with the roster and I said, ‘I want you guys to remember this moment because this is a historical moment in the business. No matter what happens, this is the first time in 20 years that there is an actual company that can sell out Las Vegas, that will do 150,000 buys on pay-per-view, with an actual television deal. Don’t take this for granted because it doesn’t happen every day and it’ll probably never happen again.’ I threw my pole in the sand.

How he has adopted a leadership role backstage:

Undertaker doesn’t say he’s the locker room leader. I never say that either, but if people have questions, ideas, or concerns, my door is getting knocked on all the time. I feel like Vince sometimes, there’s a line of people waiting to talk to me because I have the advice. Not only telling you what you want to hear, but also what you don’t want to hear. That’s my responsibility as well.

Chris Jericho

A lot of fans still believe that sooner or later Chris Jericho will make his return to WWE. Wherever he goes, we hope no more injustice happens to the former six times WWE World Champion.

Hulk Hogan Wants To Face Stone Cold

Hulk Hogan vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin has been a dream match for wrestling fans for ages. WWE teased this match once in 2007 first when Hulk Hogan challenged Stone Cold during an episode of Raw. The excitement of fans was reaching the peak at that time. But it was never been heard or mentioned since then.

Earlier reports suggest that WWE attempted to book this match a number of times before. The first attempt was for WrestleMania X-8 but for some reason, it did not quite happen. Instead, we got Stone Cold vs Scott Hall and Hogan went on to face the Rock which was another dream match and it is considered to be one of the best matches in WrestleMania history.

hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan Wants To Face Stone Cold

It is also said that WWE wanted to book this match for WrestleMania XIX as well but for different reasons, it could not take place either. Austin had to retire from in-ring action after that and the dream remained in dreams and video games only.

But Hogan still dreams of this match one day. During his appearance on After The Bell, he said,

hulk Hogan
hulk Hogan. Image Credits: Twitter

The whole time I was keeping a good eye on the WWE because I was hoping maybe someday, I could come in and rebuild that bridge. Someday maybe I could come back. It was just crazy when I got the call from Vince to come in and work with The Rock, I said, “OK, this is it, I’m going to put my good boy pants on.’ He wanted us to come in as the nWo, this poison because we were the poison. Once we came in, my whole goal was to tear the house down with The Rock. I didn’t know he was going to split and do movies and stuff, but my whole goal was to have that run with The Rock, and I wanted to focus on Stone Cold [Steve Austin].

hulk Hogan
hulk Hogan. Image Credits: Twitter

As a heel, I could’ve put him over everywhere. If they would’ve put the belt back on me, he could’ve chased me. And like Stone Cold said, ‘If there’s money to be made, let’s make it brother.’ That was my goal was to get him in that Hulk Hogan zone and make him realize that the way you go to the ring and the way you feel is the same way you’re going to feel when you get done working with me on the way back. It’s going to be a nice and easy brother, but we’re going to tear the place down. My whole goal was to get him corralled and have that run, but it never happened.

Even if this match ever takes place we do not think we can ever get the best out of it. Austin has been out of action for over eighteen years and he is 56 now. And Hulk Hogan is a 67-year-old man, so this dream match can never get the best justification even if it ever takes place.

CM Punk Speaks On Chris Jericho’s WWE Network Interview

The former WWE superstar CM Punk recently commented on Chris Jericho’s shocking appearance on WWE Network’s Broken Skull Sessions is scheduled. It will be hosted by Stone Cold Steve Austin. Fans and critics are badly waiting to hear from Y2J.

CM Punk spoke to TMZ Sports recently where he talked about this and gave her views,

CM Punk Speaks On Chris Jericho’s WWE Network Interview

“I think it’s interesting for sure,” Punk said. “Honestly, my major reaction and opinion on it is I think that it shows Vince McMahon isn’t afraid of AEW at all because if he was, he wouldn’t allow that to happen.”

CM Punk also thinks there will be nothing too controversial in this interview and it will be more of “a feel-good interview”

“It feels like it’s gonna be softball questions,” Said Punk. “I don’t know if they’re going to ask Jericho all the tough questions — and nor do I think that they possibly should. It will probably just be like a feel-good interview. They’ll talk about Jericho’s past at WWE, I’m sure they’ll mention AEW but they won’t get into the hard questions that I think a lot of people would be interested in.”

CM Punk

“Anytime anybody’s talking about you, it’s good,” he said. “There will be people who don’t know AEW exists who will watch it and say ‘Oh wow cool, I didn’t know that, I just thought Jericho was retired.’ But, there is also something to be said about keeping your guys special and the only place you can see the superstar is on my television show. It’s new age and I think both companies need all the eyeballs they can get at the moment so kudos to everybody involved.”

Chris Jericho decided to leave WWE for AEW because of the injustice he felt during WrestleMania 33 when WWE decided not to make his match against Kevin Owens a Universal title match.

CM Punk
CM Punk. Image Credits: Twitter

It is said that Jericho was scheduled to win the Universal title from Kevin Owens on WrestleMania 33 and the only reason Jericho wanted this because this would have been his first world title win in WWE as a babyface.

Their feud of that year was arguably the best feud of the season and both individuals did really well to keep things going. But WWE decided to take all the spotlights away from them just before the event. Jericho actually felt betrayed by this incident thus, he left WWE for the All Elite Wrestling.

How Stone Cold Steve Austin Cleaned Up After WWE Beer Bashes

Stone Cold Steve Austin is perhaps the most popular character in the sports entertainment industry who used to possess a charismatic in-ring character. His time inside a WWE ring used to include plenty of beers. He used to arrive in style smashing and drinking at least a dozen of cans in front of live fans if not it was for an entire beer truck.

By the end of his appearances, Stone Cold Steve Austin would be fully soaked with such beer beverages. Some fans may wonder how he would have cleaned up. While speaking to Not Sam Wrestling Podcast, the Texas Rattlesnake would go on to reveal how the washing process would go on for him. It wasn’t that much tough as it’s supposed.

Infamous Stone Cold Beer Bath Segment Took Place On WWE Raw 22 Years Ago

How Stone Cold Steve Austin Cleaned Up After WWE Beer Bashes 1

Stone Cold Steve Austin revealed that there were some guys in the locker room who used to wear bodysuits and had issues with funky smells. He didn’t have to deal with that kind of problem because he just washed in the sink. He had to rinse off anyway since he was all covered up in beer after those bashes.

“Man, I don’t wanna name any names, because I was telling someone else when you’re on the road and you’ve got those guys with those body suits and stuff like that they get kinda funky. You sweat and you pack your stuff in a bag, you don’t give it a chance to air out and it’s on the road,” the Hall of Famer stated.

“I used to just, because I got covered in so much beer, I just rinse out in my trunks in the sink and just hang them up. I was pretty good.” (Transcription by Ringside News)

How Stone Cold Steve Austin Cleaned Up After WWE Beer Bashes 2

Stone Cold Steve Austin would miss Wrestlemania 37

Days have become rare in the WWE that we could spot Stone Cold Steve Austin throwing up those beer bashes, these days. Until and unless fans are returning, it’s not happening. He has also wrestled his final match although the never say never phrase still exists. At least, he is medically qualified to deliver some of the stunners whenever showing up.

Without the fans, there’s not really any point to bring back the Hall of Famer. This could be the reason that he’s not appearing at WrestleMania 37 since the event won’t have full fans in capacity. Next year, WrestleMania is visiting Texas, the home state of Stone Cold Steve Austin and this should be a fair occasion to arrange a suitable appearance for the legend.
