After he tried to put over Big E as the WWE champion and lost to Goldberg at the Crown Jewel pay per view event, WWE came back with another main event push for him however it seemed that he will not be pushed by WWE anymore. He returned really strong as he defeated all the big names of Monday Night RAW by the time.

At the Day 1 pay per view event, he won the WWE championship for the second time just to drop it to Brock Lesnar at the Elimination Chamber pay per view event. Even though he was never been beaten in this match, he was out of the match with kayfabe injury. Since then he did not get any WWE Championship opportunity.

“As far as Bobby Lashley, I think I said it about a month ago, ‘it looks to me like they were building Bobby up to be something extraordinary.’ Bobby Lashley right now, of course, he can be looked at as the babyface.

“We were just talking about who’s going to be the guy to challenge Roman? I don’t know, I’m just saying, if I was a booker, I would perhaps see it that way. For Bobby to be that babyface, MVP can’t be there at the helm. He just can’t be there, he can’t be flanking Bobby if that’s what route we’re going.”
