Edge returned to this week’s Smackdown to confront Seth Rollins but a surprise was waiting for him as the latter made their rivalry, too personal. He went on to invade the Rated R Superstar’s actual home in Asheville, North Carolina. Since nobody was there, Rollins did have a great time at the legend’s home. But this didn’t obviously go well with him who was terrified about his family.

Edge got on the phone and told his wife Beth Phoenix that “Daniel and David” would be on their way for help. Some of the fans didn’t get who he was referring to. The Rated-R Superstar was talking about FTR (Cash Wheeler, Dax Harwood) from the AEW roster. Previously this duo was on the WWE roster under the name of The Revival.

In real-life, the two tag team partners’ names are Daniel Wheeler and David Harwood who became very good friends with Edge during some training sessions as the latter was making his comeback, last year. Now, their reference during liv TV did pique a lot of interest as the fans wondered whether the 11-time world champion went out of the script to make Vince McMahon angry.

WWE didn’t care about what Edge said on Smackdown

It appears only the fans did care about the Top Guys getting referenced on SmackDown following their exit from the company. Edge never directly name-dropped “Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler” or even made a reference to The Revival or FTR. He simply said “David and Daniel” to protect himself from any potential backlash.

Ringside News got to know about the internal response to Edge dropping that reference on FOX. A tenured member of the creative team told the source that he “must have played right to the Internet on that one.” They have also informed that “no one backstage cared. Not Vince McMahon, Bruce Prichard, John Laurinaitis, or Kevin Dunn.”

FTR in WWE as The Revival

So there was no heat on Edge for his comments on Smackdown. He is a bonafide Hall of Famer and he played by the rules. Meanwhile, Dax tweeted back to him, “I’ll go over there right now & beat his little bit**ass” while Cash tweeted out an animated gif of their tag team showing up in Daily’s Place riding their black truck.
