Edge Reportedly Returning From Injury At WWE Royal Rumble 2021

Edge made perhaps the best return in the history of the WWE when he appeared at the Royal Rumble, earlier this year. But then he suffered an injury during the Greatest Wrestling Match Ever at Backlash. It was his overall second match after the miraculous comeback that put a sudden halt to his career and the heated feud with Randy Orton.

Now we are patiently waiting for the Rated R Superstar’s return. We only know that he suffered a triceps injury that was obviously not in the plan, but it’s forcing the almost 47-year-old superstar to find out how his body can heal up the wounds after surgery. Recently Edge admitted that it’s a slow process that leaves with an assumption.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter had a recent discussion with Edge’s possible return timetable. Due to the torn triceps, he is out for six to eight months, as expected, that should keep him out until February. Following that, he was set to face Randy Orton at WrestleMania in the last man standing match.

But with Edge’s return up in the air, all the WrestleMania plans are needed to be chalked out from the scratch. It was noted that Royal Rumble “could make sense,” but then again this comeback in January could just be a “touch and go.” Right now, it’s really unknown how soon the Hall of Famer will return, or how the creative team plans to bring him back.

It was also assumed that Randy Orton might become the WWE Champion by that point. He has another chance to win the title at Hell In A Cell as he battles Drew McIntyre, perhaps inside the structure. The title, getting involved in the feud between Orton and Edge could add more elements.

While speaking to Busted Open Radio Edge said he doesn’t know how soon he is capable of making the return to the ring as the healing power isn’t the same at this age.

“I mean, I don’t know. It’s a learning process because I’m going to be 47 next month, so I didn’t know how I heal from injuries, surgeries [and] things like that. It’s a slow process. I’m not going to lie. The triceps is a different thing. I got back from an Achilles in six months, but I was 35 doing that, so at 10 plus years, I don’t know. It’s a different thing. You don’t realize how much your triceps is involved in almost everything you do in terms of arm movement.”

“So, I don’t know yet. I know it’s a lot slower than I thought it was going to be because I just have this mentality of, ‘Right. No big deal. Surgery, PT and we grind through it, we break down the scar tissue and off we go.’ So, I don’t know if it’s the injury itself [or] if it’s I’m a little older, I don’t know what it is, but it’s not as fast as I would’ve liked.”
