WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair was last seen on WWE TV via a romantic angle with Lacey Evans. Being one of the greatest pro wrestlers to have ever competed in the pro wrestling industry, he has done it all but that was one thing he felt like not being his cup of tea. He wasn’t necessarily on board with the idea but then he couldn’t do anything with Vince McMahon pushing for it.
Ric Flair returned on Raw as part of the Legends Night where he began that romance storyline with Lacey Evans. It saw him betraying his own daughter Charlotte Flair as the odd couple would try to expand wings. The storyline garnered a lot of attention as the fans were talking about it but then it also received its fair share of criticism.
While speaking to ESPN MMA’s Ariel Helwani, Ric Flair shed light on his storyline with Lacey Evans. Flair was asked how much comfortable he was doing that storyline. The Nature Boy returned with a negative answer saying he didn’t feel at home, doing the storyline. He further added that his daughter also didn’t like it, for sure.
WWE Star Lacey Evans Announces She’s Having A Baby Girl
Ric Flair also praised Lacey Evans
“In this instance, I didn’t (feel comfortable). It didn’t make a difference. One thing I’ve learned is that you’re not going to win a war when someone has their mind made up. [Charlotte] most definitely didn’t like it,” Flair revealed.
“She [Lacey Evans] is a Marine and we can’t give enough back to the people who have served. He wanted her to be successful and the way to be successful sometimes is to take two other people who are doing well and give them the rub. She’s a nice girl, but it didn’t fit. We made the best of it and ultimately, she’s pregnant now with her husband. It was never anything personal, I barely know her.” (Quotes courtesy Fightful)
Lacey Evans was eventually supposed to receive a huge push capitalizing on this unique angle but then she would get legitimately pregnant and the storyline was subsequently abandoned. Plans for her becoming the Raw Women’s Champion were thus scrapped. Ric Flair hasn’t been seen on WWE television since then while Charlotte Flair is once again focused on her singles career.
The plan for Lacey Evans was to win the RAW Women’s Title and then head onto WrestleMania with that belt. After the pregnancy announcement, The Lady of WWE had to be sidelined in a big way as every related plan had to be changed, down the road. Asuka was allowed to hold the belt, a little more who would eventually drop the belt to debutant Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania Night Two.
