It was on October 14, 2022, Maria Kanellis-Bennett made her AEW debut during Friday Night’s Rampage on the TBS Network. Her husband Mike Bennett and his tag team partner Matt Taven, collectively known as part of The Kingdom also arrived at the Tony Khan-owned promotion after a lot of speculations were there about their future in the professional wrestling circuit.

After her release from WWE in 2020 amid the random COVID-19-related budget cuts, the relationship between the company and Maria Kanellis-Bennett was under the microscope as the latter previously opened up about how she was treated badly under the previous leadership of the company led by Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis.

However, things have changed in the recent past with Paul “Triple H” Levesque being in charge as the Head of the Creative Team after which a lot of returns have occurred in the WWE locker room, especially in the women’s division. So, there have been speculations about Maria Kanellis possibly making her way back to the WWE in due course.

Responding to a fan’s question on social media, Maria Kanellis claimed that it could certainly happen but for now she’s happy with what AEW has to offer her,

“I’m happy where I am and I’m excited for the future in @AEW. The door is not closed for @wwe someday but for now, I’m exactly where I’m meant to be in @AEW.”

But in the end, Maria Kanellis is best known for her time in WWE. She ranked fifth in the Diva Search 2004 edition but eventually got hired by the WWE. During that tenure, she got mainstream attention by featuring in the cover of the 2008 Playboy magazine pictorial. After leaving the WWE, she was seen in 2010 appearances on the Celebrity Apprentice television series also featuring Donald Trump.
