Matt Hardy Discusses The NJPW Debut Of Sasha Banks
Vince McMahon was still in charge of WWE back then and he was so careless about the situation that he decided to take down the Women’s Tag Team titles. He was even planning to kill the NXT Women’s Tag Team championships too. Thankfully Triple H got incharge and reintroduced the titles.
Both Sasha and Naomi remained out of action since leaving WWE and there had been lots of speculations on where they might ended up being. There were even speculations that Triple H is trying to take them back in WWE. There were rumours on every week about their potential returns.
Finally, Sasha has made her NJPW Debut killing all the rumours. This time she has been renamed as Mercedes Mone. So it is pretty much clear that she is not coming back to WWE anytime sooner. Naomi is still out of action and her fate is yet to be decided. So we are not taking down any rumours of her potential WWE return.
Matt Hardy who is also a former 11 times Tag Team champion in WWE recently spoke on the “Extreme Life of Matt Hardy” podcast where he talked about the NJPW debut of Sasha Banks and discussed the impact of this iconic moment. He said;
“I mean, good for her. Sasha, Mercedes, she really bet on herself and it’s hard for me not to appreciate that, because I’m one of those guys too, where I feel like, and Vince always knew that too, like, I didn’t have to be in WWE. I’m not afraid to step out of Alexandria, you know, a safe zone.
“I kind of compare Alexandria from The Walking Dead to WWE. If you stay inside and you have these walls, you’re gonna have a nice life, and it’s safe and it’s easy, and you can make decent money and it’s good, but you can go outside those walls and you can survive on your own, but you have to hustle.
“You definitely have to hustle. So I have huge respect for anyone who is willing to leave WWE and go out and hustle on their own. I think Mercedes is killing it. She’s doing a great job at keeping herself relevant, keeping herself in the conversations, being a huge talking point in the wrestling business, and showing up at New Japan and doing what she did. It was a big, big deal.”
