Professional wrestling legend and future WWE Hall of Famer Matt Hardy who is a former 11 times Tag Team champion in WWE recently looked back at his feud against his brother Jeff Hardy from 2009 and talked about it. He said that he thought WWE Using The Death Of Jeff’s Dog In Their 2009 Feud Was Done In ‘Bad Taste.’
The feud between Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy in 2009 was not their first feud. The first feud between the two brothers took place back in 2001, it had a short truce and continued in 2002 ended up Matt turning heel, and ultimately the feud remained incomplete but most of the fans believed that the feud was won by Jeff.
Matt Hardy Looks Back At His Feud With Jeff Hardy From 2009
The two brothers did not get to face each other in WWE after that, but in 2009 they had another fresh feud. Once again, Matt was the heel here and Jeff was the babyface. It was really well orchestrated and was not booked randomly for WrestleMania 25 like Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn from WrestleMania 37.
Matt was feeling really jealous of the success of his brother who was a three times WWE World Champion by the time and Matt on the other hand was stuck on the mid card division of WWE for a very long time. So he decided to take out all of his frustrations over his brother. It was a much awaited feud but unfortunately it could not be as good as the fans expected it could be.
The match between the two brothers at WrestleMania 25 was really good but it was not up to the expectations it had. Surprisingly, Matt defeated Jeff at WrestleMania 25. The duo never get to face each other after the feud ended. But we have seen the duo working as a tag team for so many times in WWE and in other promotions as well.
Matt Hardy who is a former 11 times Tag Team champion in WWE recently spoke to where he looked back at his feud against his brother Jeff Hardy from 2009 and talked about it. He said that he thought WWE Using The Death Of Jeff’s Dog In Their 2009 Feud Was Done In ‘Bad Taste.’ He said;
“That was an event that was so tragic and so sad. Literally, his house burned down. All the old tights and all his old gear were lost in the fire.”
“His dog died. It was a really traumatic event for him. Just for them to put that in our storyline was almost like it was in bad taste. I’ll never forget them burning a dog collar and then I held the dog collar.”
“I remember saying, ‘I don’t know. I mean, I’ll do it. If this is what you guys want me to do, I’ll do it. But like, this could be too much.’ I could just feel the air coming out of the crowd. It’s not that they were mad at me because I’m playing the bad guy in the story. They were mad at me because this is in poor taste. So that’s how it felt.”
