It seems like there will be no Smackdown Tag Team championship match in this year’s WrestleMania.
We have not seen any progress of the Tag Team division of Smackdown in the past two weeks. However, the Smackdown Tag Team champions The American Alpha competed in a dark match last week on Tuesday night Smackdown.
Earlier, speculations were rife that The American Alpha would defend the Tag Team championships against The Usos at WrestleMania. We even saw a teaser of that match three weeks ago on Smackdown.
The Usos cut a great promo after American Alpha’s match against the Breezango. The promo of the Usos was highly praised by the critics and the fans. But after that we did not see any continuation of this feud. American Alpha did appear on a dark match last week but The Usos was not even seen.
According to ‘Cage Side Seats’, the Smackdown Tag Team championship will not be defended at WrestleMania. “The SmackDown tag team titles may not be defended at WrestleMania 33, and it could be the impetus for a post-event storyline for American Alpha/the entirety of the blue brands tag division.”
Cagesideseats also reported this week’s WrestleMania is going to be a seven hour show. So is it really short enough to feature an extra title match? We’ll have to wait till WrestleMania to get all the answers.
