Professional wrestling legend and two times WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels who is a former four times WWE World Champion recently talked about the appearances of NXT stars in this year’s Royal Rumble pay per view event and say that it was a great opportunity for NXT to showcase themselves.
This year’s Royal Rumble matches did not serve much surprises. The men’s Royal Rumble match did not feature any surprise at all apart from the Hall Of Fame entry of wrestling Legend Booker T. There were no NXT entrant, neither any remarkable returns on this year’s men’s Royal Rumble match.

But the women’s Royal Rumble match featured a number of surprises. There were some NXT entrants, Hall of Fame entrances amd even some big returns as well. Both of the Royal Rumble matches were good but in terms of surprises the women’s Royal Rumble match was pretty much better than the men’s one.
There were a total of three NXT entrans in this year’s women’s Royal Rumble match. The first one was the NXT Women’s champion Roxanne Perez, the second one was Zoey Stark, and the final one was the Australian NXT star Indi Hartwell. None of them managed to eliminate anyone and their performances were praiseworthy.
Zoey Stark was the best NXT performer in the Royal Rumble match who survived for nearly half an hour. The other two could not even survive for five minutes. Fans had big expectations from Roxanne Perez but the main roster did not do any justice to the young talent. We hope she comes out to be a big star when she makes official her main roster debut.
Shawn Michaels who is a former four times WWE World Champion recently spoke on the recent NXT media call where he talked about the appearances of NXT stars in this year’s Royal Rumble pay per view event and say that it was a great opportunity for NXT to showcase themselves. He said;
“Sometimes it matters a great deal, other times it doesn’t. I think they had a pretty good idea of who it was that they wanted this year. Obviously, they asked us our opinions, we certainly gave them, but for this year, it was a matter of who it was that they wanted, and then a couple of backups for alternates in case something were to happen. They only needed women. It was my understanding that they had plenty of the men.
“For us, it’s a great opportunity for NXT to have anybody up there. I’ll be honest, it’s always the main roster call as far as what it is. Anything that has to do with our talent going up there, it is more often than not a main roster call. When we’re looking for main roster folks to come down here, that’s me making a request and for the most part it usually being granted, other than there being conflicts in talent schedules.”
