Want to be a professional cricketer?
Player managers have always done a superb job along with the superstars over the ages in WWE. Managers are really a very important part in any professional wrestling industry. But nowadays you won’t see a much of player managers in WWE. There was a time when managers got a lot of priorities in professional wrestling, even there was a ‘Manager of the Year’ section in PWI awards, but it was dissolved in 1999. The division of the managers is not officially defunct but almost erased from professional wrestling. The new professional wrestling fans would never realize the importance of managers, but those, who are watching professional wrestling from the early 90’s know how valuable and interesting a player manager is in WWE. In this feature, we shall talk about why the division of the managers is so important, and also, we shall take a look back to some of great managers in professional wrestling history.
Let’s not talk about the player managers. General Managers are also equally important. Especially the heel ones who look more interesting. You don’t have to look back to a long time just think about Eric Bischoff when he was the Monday Night Raw general manager. What a tremendous role he played and he grew a lot of heat. So as Stephanie McMahon and Theodor Long did pretty good jobs as face general managers of Smackdown. In earlier days, there were tons of names in management division of WWE/F. Nowadays, if you look at the managerial stuffs of WWE, you will find a very few names, such as, Paul Heyman, who is currently the manager of CM Punk and also the Intercontinental champion Curtis Axel, Ricardo Rodriguez, who is the special ring announcer of Alberto Del Rio and sometimes, does his job pretty well as a manager of him, Summer Rae, who works as the valet of Fandango, Zeb Colter, the MANAGER OF Antonio Cesaro and Jack Swagger, and of course Vickie Guerrero, the current managing supervisor of Raw. These people are doing good jobs, so why not hiring some more managerial stuffs to make things more interesting? If you look at the best names in Managerial division of professional wrestling, you will find out many hall of famers and legends like Gorilla Monsoon, Jim Cornett, Paul Bearer, ‘The mouth of the South’ Jimmy Hart, Bobby ‘The Brain’ Heenan and many more. Managers who work as heels look more interesting at their villainous works while a match is going on. Managers are seriously missed, hope WWE will bring some new faces in the managing division.
