WWE’s Women’s division Tag Team Championships will finally have new title-holders after remaining vacant for more than three months. It was on the May 16 episode of Monday Night Raw that Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out of the company officials declaring their frustrations and since then, WWE found it hard to crown new champions.

Under the supervision of Triple H as the head of the creative team, the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament was finally underway from last month onward and it will reach a destination during this coming episode of Raw. Dakota Kai and IYO SKY will face Raquel Rodriguez and Aliyah in the final match of the tourney to determine the new champions.

Women’s Tag Team Championship semifinal took place on Smackdown

Moving on, the second semi-final match took place on Smackdown where Raquel Rodriguez and Aliyah defeated the Fatal-4-Way winner Natalya and Sonya Deville to advance to the Finals of the Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament. Raquel pinned Deville with her Texana Bomb finisher.

After this match, WWE confirmed that Raquel Rodriguez and Aliyah will compete against IYO SKY and Dakota Kai in the Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament finals on the August 29 episode of Raw. The winners will be called the new tag champs of the company.

The team of IYO and Dakota are the favorites to win this match since the veteran Bayley will be on their side during the match to utilize her mean streak. Also, their opponents, Raquel and Aliyah are makeshift teams who got only paired for this tourney. It’s very unlikely that WWE has plans for them to function as a team following the Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament.

The team of Bayley, IYO, and Dakota are also scheduled to take on Bianca, Alexa Bliss, and Asuka in a six-woman non-title tag team match at WWE Clash at the Castle premium live event in Cardiff, Wales set for September 3rd.
