Going by the recent video game installments released by WWE and 2K, WWE 2K23 should be the next in line. Wrestling fans have eagerly been waiting to have an announcement about the upcoming edition of the WWE 2K series. They’ll be happy to know that it’s at the preparatory level, as of now.
2K parent company, Take-Two Interactive released its First Quarter earnings and the note on WWE 2K23 should interest the WWE cum professional wrestling fans. The statement released by the company cited WWE 2K22 as one of its best-selling games for the quarter. This has also contributed to the company’s growing sales figures and net revenue,
“The largest contributors to GAAP net revenue were NBA® 2K22; Grand Theft Auto® Online and Grand Theft Auto V; Red Dead Redemption® 2 and Red Dead Online; Empires & Puzzles™; Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands®; WWE® 2K22; Rollic’s hyper-casual portfolio; Toon Blast™; The Quarry®;and Top Eleven®.”
WWE 2K23 is currently under development by Take-Two Interactive
In addition, it was noted by Take-Two Interactive that WWE 2K23 is listed as one of the games scheduled to be released by the end of its fiscal 2023 calendar. Take-Two’s fiscal year ends March 31, 2023. So, we can definitely expect WWE to present the next video gaming experience for the fans with the join association of 2K when WrestleMania 39 season will be at its peak.
It should be mentioned that WWE 2K23 is not the only professional wrestling video game on its way to coming out to the market. Recent reports are claiming that All Elite Wrestling is also working on its first console video game, named AEW Fight Forever.
AEW is yet to officially announce the video game but we expect this game to come out sometime before the end of this year. Unlike WWE’s simulation-style offering, Fight Forever might be offering an arcade-style game for the fans.
Before the latest reports around WWE 2K23, another report from Fightful Select had stated that WWE was rumored to be having talks with EA in regards to producing a video game as the company was frustrated with the relationship it had with Take-Two. However, the WWE 2K22 managed to garner positive overall reactions and now the partnership has reportedly been extended.
