Last night, at San Juan, Puerto Rico, a press conference for WWE Backlash 2023 went down which had a number of top superstars in attendance under the officiation of Triple H. The head of the WWE creative team also had to calm down things after things almost got physical between Damian Priest and Bad Bunny, the two potential main-eventers of the PLE.
As seen at WWE Backlash 2023 media event, Priest shoved Bunny and Bunny fell down. Bunny wanted to hit his former tag team partner back but Triple H told Bunny to calm down and save things to settle inside the squared circle.
Bunny then calmed down and the segment ended with a face-off with Priest for the photo-op. But before then, Bunny ultimately slapped Priest in the face before leaving. Triple H again stepped in and hold Priest back from attacking Bunny.
Priest and Bunny will collide in a San Juan Street Fight tonight at WWE Backlash 2023. Bad Bunny also appeared on this week’s episode of SmackDown from Puerto Rico to provide builds for the match. Originally, this match was supposed to be a tag team match featuring Rey Mysterio with Bunny against Priest and Judgment Day’s Dominik Mysterio.
“I Think Pressure Works In My Favor,” Challenger On Title Match At WWE Backlash 2023
However, Bunny and the WWE Officials felt that Priest and Bunny would be comfortable enough with each other to compete in this street fight and the singles contest was made, official. WRKD Wrestling also recently tweeted out something interesting and it noted that Bad Bunny and Damian Priest had been trying to secure the main event spot at WWE Backlash 2023,
“Priest will continue to heat up his feud w/ Bad Bunny, as they’re pushing to main event.”
While nothing regarding this news has been confirmed, the current main event for WWE Backlash 2023 is set to be between Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar. Per earlier reports, Puerto Rico Convention Center District Authority (PRCDA) and the Puerto Rico Tourism Company paid WWE $1.5 million to bring the event to Puerto Rico and they needed star power for the show.
