Last January, the franchise of WWE had undergone surgery which kept him shelved since then. The 15 time WWE world heavyweight champion has torn his rotator cuff in a match against Alberto Del Rio at the beginning of this year. He went under the knife on the 7th of last month to correct the same in Birmingham, Alabama. The return of John Cena was scheduled from five to nine months from the surgery, but the freak of nature is coming back early from the injury, once again.
The franchise actually made his in-ring return at WrestleMania 32, where he appeared alongside The Rock for a beat-down of the Wyatt Family, which was just four months after the surgery.
At the time of his departure, he was in the midst of a rivalry with Del Rio for the United States championship. After he lost his chance he chose Kalisto as the next contender for the US championship and the masked superstar still holds the championship.
John Cena’s role upon his return is not quite clear till date but as per sources, he might get into the mix of WWE world heavyweight championship picture. Or, he can involve in the Shane McMahon vs. The Authority’s power struggle considering he has been the face of the company for over ten years.
