All the scheduled matches that took place was very much predictable and the event overall was good. Two unscheduled matches also took place, Daniel Bryan became the new WWE champion, Punk now involved in a feud with Ryback. Overall, it was a satisfying event. Let us go through all of the matches one by one and let us see what actually happened;
Pre Show : The Prime Time Players (Darren Young and Titus O’Neil) defeated Tons of Funk (Brodus Clay and Tensai), The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso), 3MB (Heath Slater and Drew McIntyre) and The Real Americans (Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro) – Tag Team Turmoil match for WWE Tag Team Championship match later in the night : Predictable as The Shield are a heel stable, so no heel team was going to win, Usos already had a feud with the Shield so they would not be facing them again, Tons of Funk are currently jobbers, so they were not going to win either. So, clearly, Prime Time Players were going to win, and they won.
Intercontinental champion Curtis Axel defeated Kofi Kingston to retain the championship : This was an unscheduled match and it took place just because just because lots of talking points were created with the title was not being defended at Night of Champions PPV event for the first time. So no shock as Axel retained, good match though.
Divas Champion AJ Lee defeated Natalya, Brie Bella and Naomi to retain : Another predictable match, but I hate to see AJ picked up the victory over Natalya. The match was entertaining, AJ made Natalya tap out by locking her in the Black Widow submission maneuver.
Rob Van Dam defeated World Heavyweight champion Alberto Del Rio by disqualification; Del Rio retained : We all know that Van Dam is not going to win the World Heavyweight championship, Van Dam winning by disqualification means this feud is going to continue for a while more. The match was good, both individuals performed really well. Del Rio locked Van Dam into the Cross Arm bar, Van Dam grabbed the rope but Del Rio didn’t release him by the five counts so referee called for the bells.
The Miz defeated Fandango : Another unscheduled match that took place, don’t know why. Miz made Fandango submit by locking him into the Figure Four Leg Lock. Good match, hope this rivalry would end here.
Curtis Axel and Paul Heyman defeated CM Punk in a 2 on 1 elimination match : I was pretty sure that CM Punk was going to get defeated in this match. Curtis Axel got eliminated and it was down to one on one between Punk and Heyman. But I did not think that Ryback would going to interfere, I thought it would be Brock Lesnar. But never mind, Ryback helped Heyman to win, so a new non-title feud for Punk is next, against Ryback.
United States champion Dean Ambrose defeated Dolph Ziggler to retain : The match was scheduled at the past episode of Smackdown, and it was a really a predictable match. The match was just organized to make the match card a little long, and since the event is Night of Champions, every title must be defended. We all knew that Ambrose is going to win. Hope this rivalry continues for a while.
Tag team champions The Shield defeated The Prime Time Players : Another predictable match. None of the Shield members are going to drop the titles so soon surely, they are going to retain the championships for a while more. Seth Rollins pinned Titus O’ Neil for the pin.
Daniel Bryan defeated WWE champion Randy Orton : The only match in which the title changed hand is the most anticipated match of the evening, the main event. Most of the fans wanted Bryan to win this match, so he won, and he rightfully deserved it. And what a match it was! It was seriously worthy of being a main event. Bryan pinned Orton with the running high knee.
