With the release and controversial statement of the superstars like Cody Rhodes and his wife Brandi aka Eden Stiles, WWE was about to face a PR damage. But, the franchise went right back to damage control and headlined it once again with breaking news. The pro-wrestling industry was shaken with the news when WWE announced on Thursday that WWE Smackdown will have its own identity coming July 19. From the mentioned date, WWE Raw and Smackdown will both return to its original format making them two separate brands with separate roster and championship.
With that being said it is evident that Smackdown will have its own roster and we will get back the most exciting WWE Draft. Needless to say, this definitely indicates new titles reintroduced, new feuds for Smackdown with new superstars. There have been constant speculations with which superstars will move to which brand? With nothing being confirmed the rumor mill is running rampant and we can expect to settle things soon.
Perhaps, the superstars on the roster are feeling the same uncertainty as well as their excitement know no bound. They don’t know which way they will head into except only one who has been treated with exception over the years i.e. John Cena. According to the reports of cagesideseats.com John Cena will definitely move to the blue brand to strengthen it up on the USA network as it will come live post brand split season. Cena has proven to the golden goose for the company over the past decade and this time, too the officials are counting on him to give Smackdown the boost it needs.
One of the speculated reasons for the brand split is counted as Smackdown was not doing well since its arrival on the USA Network. Even the new era was unable to give it a push. So, with the brand split happening, WWE is trying to establish Smackdown as equal as to Raw. The healthy competition between the two brands will eventually prove to be fruitful for the company. With the baton of the WWE being in the hands of the McMahon son and daughter, it may be the perfect time to make the much-anticipated brand split happen.
